Town Board, Gerald B. Solomon, Supervisor
Gentlemen:
Personal Circumstances and after a considerable amount of serious thought
I have decided that retirement at this time will be an advantage to me.
Therefore I am offering my resignation as Assistant Building and Zoning
Inspector to take effect January 31, 1972.
It has been a satisfying and rewarding experience to have served the Town
of Queensbury both as the first Police Chief of the town and my present
position.
I take this opportunity to thank the members of the Board past and present
and all those Town Officials and associates that have been most cooperative
and helpful.
If at any time in the future I can be of any assistance to any of our
Town people, I would like them to feel free to call on me for whatever.
Thank you, ---

The Police Dept. and the Highway rep rt for December were read and
placed on file.
The Supervisor opened the meeting to the public.
Robert Guyette of Bay Road complainel that he was kept awake by a plow
which began operating by his home before midnight and was still operating
at 12:30 A.M. He called the Sheriff-' s Dept. but they claimed his complaint
-- was groundless, that it was not that late. Mr. Solomon sympathized with
Mr. Guyette and stated he also lived in an area where the plowing had
to be done in the late evening when all the traffic had stopped. Mr. Solomon
stated that laws enacted to control noise in various communities in
New York state have proven invalid when put to the test in higher courts.
Town Attorney Harold Katz cited a recent Appellate Court decision in which
the court refused to enjoin a constriction company from hauling gravel 20
hours a day because it viewed the road being built by the firm as important
to more people than the disturbance --aused by the 20 hour a day hauling
of gravel. Mr. Solomon stated that tie problem of noise would be the subject
of a seminar at next months convocat'on of the Assoc. of Towns in New York
City. He indicated there were hopes for a standardized ordinance. He warned
pp
2
there was little likelihood of an ordinance that would regulate noise from
snowplows or emergency vehicles.
The meeting was then closed to the public.
