RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROMOTION OF JODY HERMANCE
FROM LABORER TO MECHANIC IN
TOWN PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT

SECONDED BY:
WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury's Parks and Recreation Director (Director)has advised
that there is currently a vacancy in the Mechanic position in the Town Parks and Recreation
Department, and
WHEREAS, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Director posted for
such position, and
WHEREAS, Jody Hermance, a current full-time employee within the Department requested a
promotion to the position, and
WHEREAS, the Director and Town Recreation Commission recommend that the Town Board
authorize the promotion of Mr. Hermance from Laborer to Mechanic as Mr. Hermance has met the
qualifications and has the required job experience for the position, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to authorize the requested promotion,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby authorizes and directs the promotion
of Jody Hermance from Laborer to Mechanic effective on or about November 7th, 2017 at the rate of
pay specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Town and CSEA for the Mechanic
position for the year 2017, subject to a ninety (90) day probationary period and any other applicable
Civil Service requirements, and
BE IT FURTHER,
RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor, Parks
and Recreation Director and/or Budget Officer to complete any forms and take any action necessary to
effectuate the terms of this Resolution.

RE: FILLING OF OPEN POSITIONS VIA PROMOTIONS
Due to a July retirement within the Department,two CSEA positions (Working Supervisor and
Mechanic) were recently posted, as prescribed by the current CSEA Agreement, interviews
were held with all interested candidates and recommendations for promotions were accepted
by the Recreation Commission.
The following promotions,to fill the vacant positions of Working Supervisor and Mechanic, are
being recommended by the Recreation Commission:
• James Flansburg promoted from Mechanic to WORKING SUPERVISOR
• Jody Hermance promoted from Laborer to MECHANIC
Each candidate selected for promotion has been performing the required job functions of their
new position with the Department, for several months and therefore have been deemed
qualified and capable for the promotion.
