IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF WEST QUEENSBURY LIGHTING Resolution of the Town DISTRICT IN THE TOWN OF QUEENSBURY, COUNTY Board Approving the OF WARREN AND STATE OF NEW YORK, PURSUANT Establishment of District TO ARTICLE 12-A OF THE TOWN LAW. Subject to Referendum. The Town Board of the Town of Queensbury, in the County of Warren and State of New York, met in regular session at the Town Office Building on the 11th day of March, 1971 at 8 :00 o'clock P.M. , Eastern Standard Time. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Gerald B. Solomon, and the following were present, namely, Gerald B. Noes : None Councilman Robillard termed the plan very economical and Councilman Austin praised the project as very feasible. Noting the absence of public discussion, Supervisor Solomon said he knew there were a lot of people who want lights; there. He said the Board had received petitions from several neighborhoods in the past and explained that the new district incorporates smaller areaspreviously considered. The meeting was opened to the public. No one wished to ,speak. The meeting was closed to the public. Supervisor Solomon praised the Girl Scouts for their window displays in the Town Office Building. The Town Clerk' s Report for the month of February 1971 was read and placed on file. The mobile home application of Howard Ronald O' Sick to place a mobile home on Burch Road, Town of Queensbury was tabled until the next meeting. The mobile home application of Donald Hunt to place a mobile home on Big Bay Road, Town of Queensbury was tabled until the next meeting. Highway Reports for the month of January and February 1971 were placed on file. The Supervisor' s Report for the month of February 1971 was placed on file showing receipts of $165,074.54 and disbursements of $1242970.24. Noes: None Resolution Nom, 60 to purchase a Tractor with Snow Blower from the West Mountain Sales at a cost of $17,008 will be forth coming from Attorney Harold Katz and will be found on page _ //,Y . Supervisor Solomon explained that both the Scotchman Material Spreader and the Tractor with Snow Blower were being purchased on an emergency basis. The Scotchman Material Spreader will be purchased from Tarrant Manufacturing Company of Saratoga Springs. The original cost of the spreader is $1,271 but it is being made available at last year' s price of $670. The Tractor with Snow Blower is being purchased from West Mountain Sales at a price of $17,008. The Board members watched demonstrations of both machines. Supervisor Solomon explained that the snow blower will be valuable in residential subdivisions and hilly areas where it has been im- possible for plows to maintain two-lane widths. He added that the tractor was a versatile piece of equipment on which bucket loaders, mowing machines and other attachments can be added. A memorandum was received from Chief of Police Gilbert Schlierer recommending the appointment of J. Patrick Dee as a Patrolman in the Queensbury Police Department and the appointment of James Francis Ogden as Sergeant in the Queensbury Police Department. RESOLUTION APPOINTING PROVISIONAL PATROLMAN RESOLUTION No. 61, introduced by Mr. Robillard, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Demboski. WHEREAS, there is an opening for a Patrolman in the Police Department, and WHEREAS, Gilbert Schlierer, Police Chief, has made known to this Board that J. Patrick Dee is qualified to fill such position, therefore be it _ RESOLVED, that this Board does hereby appoint J. Patrick Dee to the position of Provisional Patrolman effective March 15, 1971. WHEREAS, the members of the Town Board were saddened by the passing of Ernest Hillis and WHEREAS, Mr. Hillis was active in town affairs and the Town of Queensbury has suffered a loss by his passing, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the members of the Queensbury Town Board hereby record their profound sorrow on the passing of Mr. Hillis and extend to his family their sincere sympathy and be it further RESOLVED, that this resolution be entered in the minutes of this meeting and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to transmit copies thereof to the members of his family.
