(17005.35) Dear Ms. Dufek, As requested, Shamrock Engineering P.C. has performed a structural analysis for the support of the proposed Photovoltaic(PV) installation by a portion of the_residence at the above referenced address. As agreed to,the analysis was performed for the purpose of determining whether or not the existing building is capable of supporting the loads imposed by the proposed installation. This letter presents the findings and conclusions of our analysis. Prior to commencing work, we were provided a description of the panel installation and documentation of the existing structural components. Original construction drawings for the building were not available for our use. From the data provided and collected, the building is a wood framed structure constructed with dimensional lumber rafters and perimeter bearing walls. The rafters are 2x8 lumber spaced 24 inches on-center and support roof decking and metal panel roofing. Solar Universe proposes a PV configuration that will require the installation of 54 solar panels. The panels will be supported by industry standard roof mounts, which will attach directly to the roof rafters. The support system design and roof analysis were performed for support of the Code defined 60psf Ground Snow Load and 115mph Ultimate Wind Speed. Based on the information provided,our analysis indicates the roof framing and bearing walls are adequate to support the weight of the proposed panel system and the roof loads provided the following conditions are met.
