RE: Letter Report—894 State Route 9 Site Plan
Dear Mr. Harrington:
The proposed 894 State Route 9 Site Plan proposes the construction of one 11,400 square foot restaurant/retail
building which uncludes.with 2,500 square feet of restaurant space with 50 seats and 8,900 square feet of retail
space. The site is located at 894 State Route 9 in the Town of Queensbury. A site location snap has been
included with this letter. This letter/report will describe the water use and wastewater generation for the
proposed project,along with the improvements needed for the Town of Queensbury to provide public water and
sewer service.
"floe wastewater generated by the 894 State Route 9 Site Plan project has been calculated based on 35 gallons
per day (gpd) per seat for the restaurant and 0.1 gallon per day (gpd) per square foot of retail space. The
Average Daily Wastewater Flow generated from the proposed development is 2,640 gpd and 1.83 gpin,
respectively. These flows have been calculated as shown below in the Hydraulic Capacity Calculations.
894 State Route 9'Site flan—Prqject consists of a 11,400 square foot office building containing 2,500 square
feet of restaurant space with 50 seats and 8,900 square feet of retail space.
Restaurant=(50 seats)x (35 gpd [assume ordinary restaurant]}— 1,750 gpd
Retail Space=(8,900 sf) x (0.1 gpd/st-)= 890 gpd
Total = 2,640 gpd
Design Average Daily Wastewater Flow=,2,640gpd
The wastewater Erorn the proposed buildings will be conveyed via a 6" lateral to an existing 8"IIDPE sewer
main located on the west side of State Route 9 which ultimately is conveyed to the Town of Queensbury
collection system.
A grease trap will be included in the project to intercept grease from the proposed restaurant before entering the
public sanitary sewer. Grease trap sizing is as follows:
Restaurant=(5 0 seats)x (3 5 gpd [assume ordinary restaurant))= 1,750 gpd= 1.22gpm
1.22gpm=500 gallon grease trap.
Based on Table D-1 from the "New York State Standards for Intermediate Sized Wastewater Treatei-rint
Systesms", a 500 gallon grease interceptor tank is required.
Page 2
The Average Day, Max Day, and Max Flour water usage rates for the project have been calculated to be 2,640
gpd, 4,356 gpd, and 3.03 gpnn respectively. The Water System Demand Rates are outlined below.
894 State Route,9 Site Plan—Project consists of a 11,400 square foot office building;containing;2,500 square
feet of restaurant space with 50 seats and 8,900 square feet of retail space.
Restaurant=(50 seats) x (35 gpd [assume ordinary restaurant])= 1,750 gpd
Retail Space—(8,900 st) x (0.1 gpolsf) = 890 gpd
Total=2,640 gpd
Design Average Daily Water Flow=2,640 gpd
Water Demand Rates (Based on National Average)
Average Day = 100% of average daily demand rate
Max Day = 165% of average daily demand rate
Water Demand For Service Area
Average Day =(100%) x (2,640 gpd) = 2,640 gpd = 1.83 gpm
Max Day =(165%) x (2,640 gpd) = 4,356 gpd = 3.03 gpm
The water service connection to the "Town of Queensbury's Water District has been sized to provide the
dornestic and fire protection needs of the proposed project.The proposed building will have sprinkler systems.
The development proposes one 4"DIP service connection into the existing 16"water main located on the east
side of State Route 9. The connection shall utilize a tapping sleeve and valve to prevent disruption to the water
supply during construction. The proposed connection has been shown in the attached plan set.Discussions with
the Town of Queensbury have indicated thatadequate wager supply exists within this area to serve the proposed
project.
The estimated Max Day water usage and Peak Ifour wastewater flows for the 894 State Route 9 Site Plan are
relatively insignificant in comparison with the water and wastewater- capacity in the area. Therefore, it is
expected that the connection of the water and sanitary systems will not havc an adverse impact on the existing
utilities.
Please review this letter/report,and if this analysis is satisfactory, it is requested that you provide an approval
letter for this connection. Please contact me at 899-5243 ext 104 if you have any questions or require any
additional information. Thank you.
Sincerely,
