1970-04-03 SP 403 RESOLUTION OF SORROW RESOLUTION NO. 91, Introduced by Mr. Solomon, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr, Austin. WHEREAS, the members of the Town Board- were saddened by the passing of Meredith S. Bentley and, WHEREAS, Mr. Bentley was the Town Justice and has served the town faithfully for many, many, years, and WHEREAS, Mr. Bentley was a mumber of one of the old and respected families in the Town of Queensbury and WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury has suffered a loss by his passing, be it RESOLVED, that the members of the Queensbury Town Board hereby record their profound sorrow on the passing of Meredith S. Bentley, and extend to his wife and family their sincere sympathy and be it further RESOLVED, that this resolution be entered- in the minutes of this meeting and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to transmit copies thereof to the members- of his family. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes : Mr. Demboski, Mr. Austin, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson, and Mr. Solomon. Solomon Supervisor Lloyd Demboski ' Councilman John D. Austin, Jr. Councilman Harold Robillard Councilman The meeting was called to order at 10:15 P.M. This special meeting was called at the conclusion of the Queensbury Republican Committee meeting in which they unanimously voted to submit the name of J. David Little as their candidate to succeed Meredith S. Bentley as Town Justice to the' Town Board. RESOLUTION N0, 92, Introduced by Mr. Austin, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Robillard. WHEREAS, a vacancy -exists in the office of Town Justice by reason of the death of Meredith S. Bentley, and WHEREAS, it has been determined that J. David Little , an attorney at law residing in the Town of Queensbury, is qualified to be appointed to fill- such vacancy, be it RESOLVED that, pursuant to subdivision 5 of Section 64 of the Town Law, J. David Little, residing at 21 Wilson Street, be and he hereby is appointed Town Justice of Queensbury to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Meredith S. Bentley who had been elected to that office, to hold office until his successor is elected at the general election to be held an the 3rd day of November, 1970. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Mr. Demboski, Mr. Austin, Mr. Robillard, and Mr. Solomon Noes: None Absent: Mr. Robertson 404. The following visitors were greeted by the Supervisor: Carl Garb, Superintendent of Highways Mary Gray, League of Women Voters Florence Mcllvaine, Reporter - _Post Star Thomas Flaherty, Water Superintendent Edward Waters, Dog Warden Henry Driscoll, LeValley McLeod Bob Barber, visitor Alfred & Lillian Wells, visitors Jack Kokoletsos, visitor Harwood Beaty, County Supervisor Mrs. Clyde Sherman, visitor Pliney Tucker, visitor The public hearing on the application of Alfred E. and Lillian Wells for a permit to locate a Mobile Home on Big Boom Road was declared open at this time. Proof of publication was presented and read aloud by the clerk. Supervisor Solomon pointed out that the Building Inspector had approved the application. The public was asked if anyone cared to speak in favor of or against the granting of the permit. No one spoke. The public hearing was closed at 8:03 P.M. RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE PERMIT FOR MOBILE HOME RESOLUTION No, 93, Introduced by Mr. Robillard, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Austin. WHEREAS, Alfred E. and Lillian Wells of R.D. #1, Waterford, New York, have made application in accordance with paragraph 2 (c) Section 4, of an ordinance of the Town of Queensbury entitled; ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF MOBILE HOMES AND MOBILE HOME COURTS IN THE TOWN OF QUEENSBURY, WARREN_ COUNTY, NEW YORK, to locate a mobile home outside of a duly licensed mobile home court at property located at 1.5 miles from Corinth Road on east side of Big Boom Road, Town of Queensbury, and WHEREAS, this town board has conducted a public hearing in connection with said application and has heard all persons desiring to be heard in favor of or against said application, and WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that the facts presented in said application and at said public hearing are sufficient to authorize the issuance of the permit requested by said application, for the following reasons : There were no persons in appearance in opposition to the granting of the permit. The application was approved by the Building Inspector, therefore be it RESOLVED, that pursuant to the provisions of the above mentioned ordinance, permission is hereby given to Alfred E. and Lillian Wells
