Dear Mr. Kenan:
Per our telephone conversation of 26 April , we would like to amend
one item contained in our letter of 25 April 1979 regarding the
above project.
In item #2 of that letter, we inadvertantly stated that snow loading
on the roof structure was 40 p.s.f. This should have been 50 p.s.f.
per Note #4 on the structural roof framing plan on drawing S-3 latest
issue.
In addition, the building has also been designed to resist wind loadings
as follows:
0 - 25 feet 15 p.s.f.
26 - 40 feet 18 p.s.f.
These will be noted on the structural drawings.
In regard to the question of closers being provided for all labeled
doors; Section 088 of the specifications (copy enclosed) indicates
which hardware sets are to have closers. Note that all labeled
doors indicated in the door schedule, have hardware sets which call
for closers.

Re: Caldors Store: Aviation Mall at Glens Falls
Dear Mr. Kenen:
It is the professional opinion of this office that the documents
developed for construction are in compliance with New York State
Codes that apply to the mechanical and electrical systems.
Outside air ventilation is being introduced into the sales area at
a rate which will provide mechanical ventilation in amounts equal
to requirements of New York State Energy Code E203.1 (a) . This is
less than "one air change" as per State Construction Code C508-3. 3
but it is our opinion that the 1979 •State Energy Conservation Con-
struction Code supercedes the NYS Construction Code which is dated
earlier and therefore reasonable, responsible design should be based
on the Energy Code. -

Dear George:
As a follow-up to our discussions of last week, I am enclosing a copy of the
following:
1. Letter from David Evers, project architect with Alfred H. Dal Pos,AI.A,
indicating that his earlier correspondence on the subject was incorrect,
and that, in fact, the proposed addition has been designed to withstand
50 lbs.-per-square-foot snow loading and 18 pounds-per-square-foot wind
loading for walls greater than 26 feet high. His letter also indicates
that all labelled doors are equipped with automatic door closers.
2. A duplicate copy of his drawing A-6 "Room and Door Schedule" , dated
April 25, 1978, and a copy of specification Section 088 "Finish Hardware" ,
which provide further information on the subject of door closers.
3. Copies of drawings E-1 "Lighting Plan and Schedules", and E-2 "Power and
Signal Plan and Schedules" , prepared by John Christen, P.E. These drawings
have been revised since those submitted with our building permit applica-
tion, and now show exit signage.
4. Letter from John P. Christen, P.E. , indicating that in his opinion, the
design of the proposed building addition complies with the New York State
codes that apply to mechanical and electrical systems. He goes on to
point out a direct conflict between the requirements of the New York State
Energy Code and those of the State Construction Code. His resolution of
that conflict is to follow the dictates of the State Energy Code, whose
date of adoption is more recent than that of the State Constrcution Code.
