1968-02-08 383 Regular Meeting February 8, 1968 Present: Gerald B. Solomon Supervisor Lloyd Demboski Councilman Theodore Turner Councilman Harold Robillard Councilman Hammond Robertson, Jr. Councilman The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. Supervisor Solomon greeted the following visitors: Sheila Helm - League of Women Voters Juliette Ellingsworth - Visitor Florence Mcllvaine - Reporter,The Post Star John Austin - Radio Station WWSC The following resolution was presented by Councilman Demboski: RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN BOARD REQUESTING LEGISLATION TO ESTABLISH A LOCAL HOUSING AUTHORITY RESOLUTION NO. 48, Introduced by Mr. Demboski, seconded by Mr. Turner. WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of New York has enacted chapter eight hundred and eight of the laws of nineteen hundred thirty-nine, known as the "Public Housing Law" and pursuant to Article 13 thereof, which provides for the establishment, organization, operation and dissolution of municipal housing authorities, and WHEREAS it appea r s t hat the establishment of a municipal housing authority for the Town of Queensbury in the County of Warren would be in the public interest, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury in the County of Warren, request the Legislature of the State of New York to create and establish for the Town of Queensbury in the County of Warren a municipal housing authority for the accomplishment of any and all of the purposes specified in Article eighteen of the Constitution of the State of New York. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Turner, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Solomon Noes - None Councilman Demboski presented a copy of the bill as presented to the Legislation of the State of New York. The copy of the bill was placed on file. RESOLUTION TO APPROVE TOWN OFFICIAL BOND -- CEMETERY SUPERINTENDENT RESOLUTION NO. 49, Introduced by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Solomon RESOLVED that the bond of the followin g town official of the Town of Queensbury is hereby approved as to form, amount, sufficiency of surety and manner of execution, as follows: Number Surety Principal Amount 061996 Glens Falls Insurance Co. Franklin Scoville $5,000.00 Be it further RESOLVED, that the members of the Town Board sign a certificate to that effect upon the above bond as described. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Turner, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Solomon Noes - None Supervisor Solomon presented the monthly statement of the Supervisor for the month of January, 1968 at this time. The total receipts as listed were $438.954.19; the total disbursements as shown were $789172.26. The clerk presented and read aloud the notice from the State of New York Department of Health which stated that the required copies of the study and the resolution involved to do with the "Inter- Municipal Joint Public Water Survey" have been reviewed in proper order. Minutes of recent meetings of the Planning Board, The Beautification Committee and the Recreation Committee were received and placed on file. The monthly reports for January, 1968 as presented by the Chief of Police and the Zoning and Building Inspector were received and placed on file. Supervisor Solomon reported that certain Town Officials attended the recent meeting of the Association of Towns at New York City. The Supervisor stated that the next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on February 15, 1968 instead of a legal holiday February 22, 1968. RESOLUTION NO. 50, Introduced by Mr. Demboski, seconded by Mr. Turner RESOLVED, that the Audit of Bills as listed in Abstract #68-2 numbered #116 through #221 inclusive and totaling $12,399.65 is hereby approved. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Turner, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Solomon Noes - None On motion the meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted George C.
