1967-08-30 SP Special Meeting August 30, 1967 Present: John 0. Webster Supervisor N. Harwood Beaty Councilman Theodore Turner Councilman Curtis Lampson Councilman Hammond Robertson, Jr. Councilman The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Bernard J. Codner, Superintendent of Highways was present at the __. meeting. Lengthy discussion ensued with the Tom Board and the Highway Superintendent on the subject of purchase of equipment. Mr. Edward J. Ouinane, Jr. , representing the J. C. Georg Corporation and Mr. "Bucky" Corlew, Deputy Highway Superintendent were greeted by the Supervisor at this time. During discussion Mr. Guinane quoted on a rock crusher at the following high figure which would be furnished by his corporation, the J. C. Georg Corporation. 10" x 24" Bucket $321000.00 10" x 36" Bucket $379000.00 , Councilman Robertson stated that as a result of statements of the salesman; the purchase should he offered for competitive bidding to insure a proper machine for the amount to be paid for same. The following recommendation was received by the Town Board at this time. Highway Department August 18, 1967. To Town Board At this time I would like to recommend that the Town Board advertise for bids on the following: 1 - 1968 Tandum drive truck 3 - Tail Gate Spreaders 1 - Rock Crusher - not less than 10" _x 24" or 10" x 36" as alternate with sand rejector. Specifications will be avAilable at either the Town Office Bt;ilding or the Town of Queensbury Highway Office, after August 30th, 1967, with the usual non-collusive clauses. WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury Superintendent of Highways did, on the 30th day of August, 1967, recommend the purchase of the following equipment pursuant to the provisions of Section #142 of the Highway Law: One (1) new 1968 Gasoline Driven Dump Truck with a V8 Engine. Three (3) under tail gate Hydraulic Spreaders. One (1) Rock Crusher - Top opening either 10" x 24" or 10" x 36" as alternate with Sand Rejector. therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to cause to be published once in the Glens Falls Times and the Post Star a notice to read in substantially the following form: NOTICE TO BIDDERS Notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury will receive sealed proposals up to .5:00 P.M. on the 14th day of September, 1967 at the Town Clerk' s Office in the Queensbury Town Office Building, Bay and Haviland Roads, Glens Falls, New York 12801 Town of Queensbury, to supply the Queensbury Highway Department with the following: One (1) new 1968 gasoline driven Dump Truck with a V8-1968 engine. Three (3) under tail-gate Hydraulic Spreader' s. One (1) Rock Crusher - Top opening either 10" x 24" or 10" x 36" as alternate with Sand Rejector. A copy of the detailed specifications of the equipment to be purchased may be obtained during office hours at the Queensbury Highway Department, 2 Aviation Road, Glens Falls, New York or . at the Town Clerk' s Office in the Queensbury Town Office Building, Bay and Haviland Roads, Glens Falls, New York, Town of Queensbury. Bids must be submitted in sealed opaque envelopes plainly marked "Truck Bid" "Hydraulic Spreader Bid" or "Rock Crusher Bid" and there shall be included in such bid the certificate as to Non- Collusion required by Section 103d of the General Municipal Law, and the bidder must state =approximate delivery date of the equipment to be supplied. The Town Board will meet at the Queensbury Town Office Building, Bay and Haviland Roads, Glens Falls, New York, Town of Queensbury at 8:00 P.M. on September 14th, 1967 at which time each and all of the sealed bids will be opened and read aloud. Noes - None 202 RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE PUBLIC HEARING RESOLUTION NO. 174, introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Robertson. WHEREAS, Lillie Ann Duall of 36 Richardson Street, West Glens Falls,N.Y. has made application in accordance with paragraph 2 (c) Section 4, of an ordinance of the Town of Queensbury entitled ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF MOBILE HOMES AND MOBILE HOME COURTS IN THE TOWN OF QUEENSBURY, WARREN COUNTY, NEW YORK, to locate a mobile home outside of a duly licensed mobile home court at property situated 36 Richardson Street, West Glens Falls, and WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that said application complies with the requirements of said ordinance, and WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that the facts presented in said application are sufficient to justify further consideration by this board, therefore be it RESOLVED, that pursuant to the provisions of--the above mentioned ordinance, the town board shall conduct a public hearing on said application on September 14, 1967, at 8:00 p.m. in the Queensbury Town Office Building, Bay Road, and that the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give proper notice of said public hearing in accordance with the provisions of said ordinance. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Webster. Noes - ,None Supervisor Webster presented a sketch and quotation on a storage building for the Queensbury Water Department as prepared by Superintendent Thomas K. Flaherty. Action deferred for futhherstudy. RESOLUTION N0. 175, introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Robertson. RESOLVED, That the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to sign and transmit to Water Resources Commission, State of New York; copies of the Town of Queensbury Petition for approval of completed works in the matter of Water Supply Application No. 4977, Queensbury Water District, second Application. Duly adopted by the following vote Ayes: Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr. L.ampson, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Webster. Noes: None. Respectfully Submitted George C. Crannell Town Clerk.
