1966-02-15 SP 354_ Snecial Meeting February 15, 1966 Present: John 0. Webster Supervisor N. Harwood Beaty (delayed) Councilman Theodore Turner Councilman Curtis Lampson Councilman Hammond Robertson, Jr. Councilman The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Webster at 7 :45 p.m. The following visitors were greeted by Supervisor Webster: Joseph A. Kestner, Jr. , - Engineer, Queensbury Water District Leonard Stimpson - Associate Engineer, Queensbury Water District Thomas K. Flaherty -- Superintendent of Queensbury Water District Siipervi_sor Webster announced that the i.n.ter_t of the first section of the meeting bas to do with a claim, which has been submitted by Mr. Howard A. LaRose for additional work on the construction of the Bay Road Water Distrirt. � Mr. Joseph A. Kestner, Jr. , presented a graph ty e resumee of- the work as carried out by Mr. . LaRose in the Bav Road Water District. Mr. . Kestner -also presented preliminary specs for the installation of a water softening plant and also specs for the installation of a supply system for South Queensbury .,and West Glens FaUs Water Districts. Mr. Howard A. LaRose and Mr. Roger. Smith of the LaRose Construction Company visited the meeting at this time. Mr. LaRose stated that his claim of $2,013.90 for additional work on .the -Bay Road Water District is substantiated by a graph type sketch as prepared -by the engineers representing the office of the Howard A. LaRose Construction Company. Councilman Beaty arrived at the meeting at 8:40 p. m. A lengthy discussion ensued on the question as to whether or not the amount claimed by Mr. LaRose is justified at this time. At the suggestion of the Town Board, Mr. LaRose and Mr. Roger Smith recessed to a. private meeting with Mr. Leonard Stimpson of the Joseph A. Kestner, Jr. , Engineering office at this time. Mans were studied to do with future drilling for water supply as we11 as maps of the proposed South Queensbury Water District and the West Glens Falls Water District. Following a study of the option as obtained for the Glen Lake site for test drilling; Mr. Kestner was ordered to plan on a series of test drillings at a time when he can arrange same with the drilling concern. Mr. Howard A. LaRose stated , that as a result of the discussion with Mr. Leonard Stimpson, he feels that it is proven that the excess amount of rock excavation which was claimed by him as an "extra" to the contract is justified. Action will be taken by _ the Town Board at a later date following an opinion by the office of Joseph A. Kestner, Jr. , Engineer of the Queensbury Water District. On motion the meeting adjourned.
