It is our understanding that the former owner constructed a 24' x 24' building at the base of the mountain without the project being reviewed by the Town building Department. I have looked at the building in question and offer the following; The building in question is an approximately 24' x 24' wood framed structure, one and one- half stories in height constructed on an Alaskan slab foundation. The building is unheated and is used by the owner for the storage and set-up of scoring and timing equipment for use by NASTAR ski racing. There are no toilet facilities with-in the building and a portion of the building is used to provide shelter for electrical transformers. According to conversations with the owner the Alaskan slab was constructed on a 12" deep bed of crushed stone which is visible around the perimeter of the existing slab edge. The existing slab does not show signs of cracking from movement during freeze\thaw cycles so it can be assumed that the crushed stone bed is adequate. As previously stated the building is unheated and therefore is uninsulated, there is an exterior metal stair access to the overhead space in the building. Drawings have been provided indicating the changes that are to be made to the stairs to bring them into compliance with the building code, otherwise the building is in conformance with the building code. If there are any additional questions regarding the building please give me a call to discuss.
