3.11 3.11 LABOR AND POLICY\Uniforms for Building and Codes Inspectors—9-10-18 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ISSUANCE OF SHIRTS AND COATS AS UNIFORMS FOR TOWN BUILDING AND CODES ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS RESOLUTION NO.: , 2018 INTRODUCED BY: WHO MOVED ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: WHEREAS, New York State Town Law §138 empowers the Town of Queensbury to employ building inspectors, deputies and assistants and to pay the reasonable fees related to such employment, and WHEREAS, in order to enhance public safety by making it easier for Town citizens to identify Town employees, the Town believes that those individuals who are charged with enforcing Town laws and regulations should be readily identifiable by the public as Town employees, and WHEREAS, the Town's Director of Building and Codes Enforcement has recommended that the Building and Codes Officers in the Department of Building and Codes Enforcement wear certain uniform shirts and coats to identify them more clearly as Town inspectors, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has considered such request, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby authorizes the Town's Director of Building and Codes Enforcement to arrange for the purchase of uniform shirts and coats to be worn by his Department's Building and Codes Enforcement Officers, such uniforms to be worn in the performance of their official job duties, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes the Town Budget Officer to pay for such uniforms from such accounts deemed appropriate by the Town Budget Officer, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor, Director of Building and Codes Enforcement, Town Budget Officer and/or Town Purchasing Agent to take any actions necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
