4.09 4.9 Labor and Policy Issues\Employee Handbook-Amend 701—Eligible Employees—10-15-18 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT OF TOWN OF QUEENSBURY EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK §701 "ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES" RESOLUTION NO.: ,2018 INTRODUCED BY: WHO MOVED ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: WHEREAS, the Queensbury Town Board previously adopted a Town of Queensbury Employee Handbook(Handbook) delineating Town employee policies and procedures, and WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to amend its Handbook by amending §701 entitled, "Eligible Employees"by clarifying the benefit package for permanent part-time employees working 30 hours or more as presented at this meeting, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby authorizes an amendment to the Town of Queensbury's Employee Handbook, §701 entitled, "Eligible Employees" to replace the current section with the new section substantially in the form presented at this meeting, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor's Office to distribute copies of the Employee Handbook amendment to all Town employees and elected officials and take all necessary actions to amend the Employee Handbook accordingly. Duly adopted this 15th day of October, 2018 by the following vote: AYES NOES ABSENT: e 70J Eligible Employees The Town offers elected officials and full-time employees a comprehensive benefit package, including medical/dental insurance, vacation, sick-time, personal days, floating holidays, Federal holidays and bereavement leave. Permanent part-time employees (30 hours -or more) receive medical/dental insurance, vacation,sick-time,personal days, floating holidays,Federal holidays,and bereavement leave on a pro-rated basis. Permanent part-time employees (less than 30 hours) do not receive medical/dental insurance. They do, however, receive vacation, sick-time, personal days, floating holidays, Federal holidays,and bereavement leave on a pro-rated basis. Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive medical/dental insurance or paid leave. However they are provided with limited benefits, such as Social Security, Retirement, Workers'Compensation,and Unemployment Insurance. For purposes of defining eligibility for benefits, full-time, permanent part-time and temporary/seasonal employees are defined as follows: Full-Time: Employees who work a minimum of forty(40)hours per week on a continuous annual basis. Permanent Part-Time Employees who work year round thirty(30)hours or more,but (30 hours or more) less than forty(40)hours per week. Permanent Part-Time: Employees who work year round twenty(20)hours or more (less than 30 hours) but less than thirty(30)hours per week. Temporary/Seasonal: Employees who work less than thirty (30) hours per week or who are employed on a seasonal basis, regardless of the numberof hours worked perweek.
