The meeting was called to order at 7 :43 p. m.
Visitors greeted were as follows:
Representatives of all the five fire companies were present in the
interest of the up-coming new contract with the town.

The following application was received in regards to the proposed
Queensbury Recreation Commission.

Gentlemen:
I should like to be considered for service on the new
Queensbury Recreation Commission.
My interest in youth and recreation .stems from early j
experience as a junior assistant scout master when I was
still in high school.
Since that time I have devoted my time to youth through
my work in education, having worked with youngsters from
the junior high school through my present position at the
Adirondack Community College.
More specifically, I worked as assistant program director
for the summer recreation program of the Binghamton Boys' Club
one summer following college. ,
In Ilion, N. Y., before coming to Glens Falls, I worked
as chairman of a community committee to establish a youth
center. I also served for several years on the Board of
Directors of the Mohawk Valley Y. M. C. A, and was chairman
of the "Y" committee which organized and created the first 1
"Y" Day Camp in that area.
I will be pleased to serve the Town and offer this brief
resume for your consideration.

Gentlemen:
This concerns the intersection of Route US 9 with the exit
ramp from the northbound roadway of Interstate Route 87 which is
located just north of Gurney Lane in the Town of Queensbury,
Warren County.
Southbound motorists on Route -US 9 desiring to continue
south on Interstate Route 87 have been observed turning rift
into the exit ramp and then proceeding southerly on the north--
bound roadway -of the interstate.- Signal #J-7 which is located
at this intersection currently displays normalgreen indications
facing north on Route US 9. In order to emphasize the Pact that
Motorists should not turn into the exit ramp-, vertical green arrows
have been ordered in place of the normal green indications. Three
copies of an action statement effecting this change are enclosed
for the records of the Town.

NOTICE OF TRAFFIC COMMISSION ACTION
The State Traffic Commission takes the following action with respect
to traffic- control signal #17 located on Route US 9, SK 417, at its
intersection with Ramp "F" (the connecting roadway from the north-
bound roadway of Interstate Route 87 to Route-US 9) in the' Town of
Queensbury, Warren County.
Changes this signal to display vertical green. arrows
facing north on Route US 9 in place of the normal
green indications as more speeifically detailed in
the specifications which follow.
The order for this signal filed with the Secretary of State is
identified as Section 2052.10, subdivision- (e), of the" regulations
of the State Traffic Commission. The amendment covering the above
change is dated Jan. 29, 1964• '
To complete this action, the New York State Department of Public
Works is to operate and maintain foaffic control signal ,#17 in
conformance- withthe Manual, of Uniform Traffic Control Devices of
the State of NewYork Traffic Commission and the followingg specifi- -.
cations. This office should be properly advised of the date of
completion of the necessary work.

SPECIFICATIONS
1. Signal #17 shall be equ ppe w wo vehicular signal faces visible
to traffic on each approach to the intersection.
2. Signal #17 shall be. equipped with vehicle detectors on Route US 9
north and south of the intersection and on Ramp "F" west of the inter-
section and shall operate as a two-phase full traffic-actuated signal.
3. Signal #17 shall be equipped with vertical green arrows facing north
on Route US 9 in place of the normal green indications.

The following communications were read by the clerk and placed on file,
State-of New York Dept. of Health, announcing a hearing to be held on
FebruejZy 27, 1964, at the Warren County Municipal Center to do with
classifying standards of quality and purity of all surface water.
Mr. Harold P. Jurgens, to do with espressing appreciation oP the courtesy
and kindness awarded him during .his stay as inspector on the recently
completed Queensbury Water System.
A motion was made by Mr. Turner and seconded by Mr. Lampson, that all
reports be accepted and placed on file.
Carried unanimously.
The new construction report for the month of January 1964 was received
and placed on file, There were .six reports received during the month.
The 'Supervisor discussed at length the renewal of the contracts with
all five fire companies as hab been -drawn up by the Town Board. The
present contract ks is in force was read and discussed for the benefit
of all members of the )visiting fire companies.
Mr. Lee Richardson of the West Glens Falls Fire Company visited the
meeting at this time.
A general acceptance of the terms ofthe proposed new contract was
voiced by all representativas .present.
RESOLUTION NO. 39 introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Lampson.
WHEREAS, the existing contract for fire protection in the Queensbury
Fire Protection District will expire on the 31st day of Julg,, 1964
and it is proposed to renew such contracts for an additional term
of five years at an annual condi.deration of $5000.00 to be paid to
each of the five volunteer fire companies, be it
RESOLVED that a public -hearing on the proposed fire protection
contracts be held at the Queensbury School on the 20th day of
February, 1964, at 7 :30 o'clock, P.M., and that the Town Clerk be
and he hereby is authorized and directed to give notice of such
public hearing according to law.
Duly adopted by the following vote :
Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mx. Turner, Mr. Lampson and Mr. Webster.

NOTICE
Notice is hereby given t ab�" e Town Board of the Town of
Queensbury, Warren County,. New York, is considering. the making
of contracts for fire protection in the Queensbury Fire _Protection
District with West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.,
Queensbury Central Volunteer Fine Company, Inc.,' Bay-Ridge Volunteer
Fire Company, Inc., North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.,

and South Queensbury Volunteer Fire' Company, Inc. , for terms of
five years to commence at the expiration of the existing contracts
at an annual consideration of $5,000.00 to be paid to each of said
contracts with the terms and conditions of the contracts otherwise
to be identical with the existing contracts.
Notice is further given that the Town Board will meet at
the Queensbury School on the 20th day of February, 1964 at 7 :30
o'clock, P.M., at which: time and place all persons interested in-
the matter of the proposed fire protection contracts will be heard.

Mr. Jerome Thorne the Superintendent of the Queensbury Water
District was granted the floor. A general discussion as to the
present quality of water being furnished in the section 'of Fort
Amherst Road took place at this time. The results of the in-
vestigation recently conducted by Mr. Joseph A. Kestner Jr.,
the engineer of the Queensbury Water District was discussed-at
length.
RESOLUTION NO_40 introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr-6 Lampson.
WHEREAS, the Town Board recognizes the necessity of providing
adequate control over the use of the town dump, and the County
Attorney has drafted a proposed ordinance which is intended to
provide such control, be it
RESOLVED that- the Town Board hold a public hearing 'on the
matter of .-the adoption of such proposed ordinance -at the Queensbury
School on the 20th day of February, 1964, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M.,
and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed
to give due notice of such public hearing.

NOTICE _.
Notice is hereby given that a Town Board of the Town of
Quaensbury, Warren County, New York, is considering the adoption
of a proposed ordinance which will limit the use of the town ,
damp to residents and taxpayers of the Town of Queensbury, will
. require the licensing of cmmlectors of rubbish in the- Town of
Queensbury, will provide for placing the town dump under the
jurisdiction of the Town Superintendent of highways, and will
otherwise control the use of the town dump and the transportation
of rubbish on town highways and provide penalties for violation
of such ordinance..
Notice is further given that the Town Board will meet at the
Queensbury School -bn the 20th day of February,- 1964, at 7:30
o'clock, P.M., and will at that time and place hear all persons
interested in the subject matter of said proposed ordinance
concerning the same.
