This system was subject to a Board of Health review for a variance(setback for the absorption field to property line)in October. The wastewater system design on the variance plan submitted included the use of a Glarus Fusion Enhanced Treatment Unit(ETU). Upon further research and discussions with the Owner it has been decided to use a PuraSys SBR(Sequential Batch Reactor)as the ETU in this design. This enables us to keep inpiace and reuse the existing 1500 gallon precast concrete septic tank and the existing 1000 gallon precast concrete pump tank. The SBR treatment components will simply be installed within the existing 1000 gallon tank. These components include the pump necessary to pump the treated effluent up to the proposed absorption field. As the type of ETU was not an integral factor in the BOH variance we have simply revised the design plan to now include the PuraSys details. The variance involved the positioning of the absorption field and that has not changed. i do feel it was important to identify this design change and thus this explanation. Please note that PuraSys system is also an NSF 40 certified treatment system and will produce similar treatment results to the Clarus Fusion. I have attached some basic manufacturers information of the PuraSys SBR system for your file. P u raSys The PuraSys SBR batches treatment through cycles, including aerobic S B R and anaerobic steps,to clean the water and reduce total nitrogen. Since the process is batched, the smart control can recognize water flow and then adjust aeration accordingly. This not only saves energy, but also improves treatment efficiency and avoids bulking. TOWN BUILDING NG&CODESRY Dear Dve: In compliance with application approvals granted by the Town of Queensbury I offer the following regarding the referenced project. The design plans, prepared by this office and reviewed and approved by the Town as associated with the wastewater system application, are as follows: • Proposed Wastewater Improvements For The 20 Bean Road LLC Residence Sheet WW-1 Proposed Wastewater Improvements Sheet WW-2 Existing Conditions Sheet WW-3 Details Dated—August 29, 2018 Date Issued for permit— November 19, 2018 Prior to construction the Owner requested that we consider the expansion of the system to include flow from an existing seasonal two-bedroom cottage. The Contractor's further excavations confirmed that site conditions were compliant for vertical and horizontal separation standards in the expanded area. The bed area was expanded to a dimension of 21' x 41' (861 sf) to accommodate the 770 GPD flow rate and an application rate of 0.9 gallons/sf/day. The application rate is based on the fill soil and the dispersal of a highly treated effluent from an enhanced treatment unit (ETU). The approved ETU, a PuraSys Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) was selected to make use of an existing septic tank and pump tank which were ideally suited for the SBR system in treatment of the flow rate proposed. During the course of construction I was on the job site to observe key components of the system installation culminating with the `start-up' of the pump assembly and control panel system on April 25, 2019. As discussed, the absorption system has Dave Hatin ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN PARTNERSHIP, LIP. May 17, 2019 Shaping the physical en din s nment Page 2 been expanded and thus an `as-built' sketch is provided for the file. Based on my inspection of the system start-up it is my opinion that the wastewater system is in compliance with the intent of the approved design plan and is ready for operation.
