1963-04-04 SP 481 Special Meeting April 4, 1963. Present: John 0. Webster Supervisor N. Harwood Beaty Councilman. Theodore Turner Councilman Curtis Lampson Councilman Harold Akins Councilman The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p. m. The Board of Assessors of the Town of Queensbury, were present i as follows: Mr. Leon Nassivera - Chairman Mr. Ernest Hillis - Assessor Mr. Warren Varney - Assessor With the problem of assessing of property, the main topic of interest at present; the board proceeded with a joint discussion. The data which was incorporated in a report received from the department of Equalization and Assessments was studied at length. Mr. Nassivera made a suggestion of creatibg a reappraisal of the town in its entirety at a later date. Action on this suggestion was deferred. Mr. Bernard Codner, Superintendent of Highways visited the meeting at this time. The assessors were questioned as to their opinion on the value of the reports of new construction as they are being submitted. Mr. Nassivera, stated that the reports are of the greatest im- portance in arriving at complete assessment data. A map was presented by the Supervisor to do with the boundary line between Warren and Washington counties from the point of the Hudson River to Lake George. A request has been submitted to the State of New York for financial assistance in ordering an up to date survey of. this boundary line. Mr. Akins, reported on the petition to Water Resources Department of New York State to do with the construction of the-Queensbury Water District. On a statement from the engineer Mr. Kestner, it is understood that the petition will be filed at an early date and subsequently the bid opening for the construction can be scheduled. Following receiving reports from- the recent pumping tests, Mr. Kestner will report to the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury to do with which well site will be made use of. The following letter was read by the Clerk: West Mountain Ski Area Route 2 Westmountain Road Glens Falls, N. Y. April 4, 1963 To the Queensbury Town Board Dear Sirs: The West Mountain Corporation is in the process of seeking additional funds to extend its ski facilities to the top of the Mountain at its present location. This additional expansion would lengthen the chair lift from 1500 feet to 4000 feet and increase the length of ski trails from 1700 feet to better than a mile per trail. 7 402 This expansion should result in excellent ski facilities located in the Town of Queensbury fdr use of local and out of town people. We desire to have the support of the Town Board of Queens- bury iu7expressing its belief that these facilities will be an asset to the Town development as a whole and are consistant with the desire for additional industry in the Town of Queensbury. Sincerely, Mike Brandt MB/lb Mike Brandt, Treasurer The board gave unanimous approval of the contents of the above letter. The Supervisor was requested to contact Mr. Brandt --� by letter to voice the approval of the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury. A letter was read by the Supervisor to do with a request for water service from Louis DiAngelus and Abraham Rudnick for an apartment house being constructed at the extension of Foster Avenue. Mr. Codner, questioned the board as to a special improvement program to be considered for the 1963 season. Following in- spection by the Highway. Committee recommendations will be presented to the board for agtion during the following months. Mr. Beaty, reported on the activity which has been started in quest of encouraging industrial development within the Town of Queensbury. A suggestion was presented to contact local real . estate representatives in hopes of securing information on vacant lands, which could be offered to developers. The Clerk,. read the following letter to do with the approval . of the Comptroller of New York .State for the construction of the Queensbury Water District. Re: Queensbury Water District Dear Sir: There is herewith sent to you for filing a duplicate copy of the order of the State Comptroller granting the application of the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury for permission to establish the Queensbury Water District in such town. Pursuant to the provisions of subdivision 4 of section 209-f of the Town Law, it is your duty to present such order to the Town Board at its next meeting. The attention of the board is hereby directed to subdivision 5 of section 209-f of the Town Law. ' Will you kindly sign and return to this Department of Audit --� and Control the enclosed receipt.
