1963-06-20 SP 448 Special. Meeting June 20, 1963 Present: John 0. Webster Supervisor N. Harwood Beaty Councilman Theodore Turner Councilman Curtis Lampson Councilman Harold Akins Councilman The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p. m. Visitors greeted at the meeting, were as follows: Howard LaRose - LaRos.e Construction Company Vernon Brown - Brown Brothers Electric Fred Fields - Coburn Company Eugene Bourque - Fidelty Casulty Company William Haggerty - FidelXty-Casulty Company Joseph A. Kestner Jr: , .- Engineer, Queensbury Water District Albert E. Beswick - County Attorney Bernard Codner - Highway Superintendent Representatives of all fire companies within. the Town of Queens- bury were greeted as follows: Floyd Sleight - Queensbury Central Fire Company Leslie Hillis Warren County Fire Coordinator Royal Chadwick- - West Glens Falls Fire Company Percy Denton - North Queensbury Fire Company Allen DuFore - South Queensbury Fire Company Floyd Martindale - Bay Ridge Fire Company The fire chief's from the several fire companies entered into a discussion on the plans for the installation of the Queensbur y Water, District. The main subject of question at this time had to do with the type- of hydrants which will be. installed within the proposed new district. Mr. Kestner proceeded to discuss the size of the hose connections needed to adapt to the new hydrants. General agreement was reached with the firemen and the engineer for the Queensbury Water District that there would . .be established connection of the National Standard type on all future hydrants installations within the Town of Queensbury. The capacity of the system at different locations was discussed at length for the benefit of the representatives of the fire companies. The wording for the signs to be installed at different locations within the Queensbury Water District while work progresses was established as follows: TOWN OF QUEENSBURY A Growing Community QUEENSBURY WATER DISTRICT PROJECT NO. APW-NY-52G Scale: 111-11-Ott Decision was reached that the logs to be removed on the site of the storage tanks should be picked up by the Highway Department and salvaged for use in the Highway Department. The undersigned hereby respectfully petitions the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury as follows: FIRST: That the contract between the City of Glens Falls and the Town of Queensbury providing for a sewer district originally comprised of eighteen (18) persons which was subsequently amended to add two (2) additional persons be further amended to provide for twenty-one -(21) persons by ?addition of .the .undersigned. 449 SECOND: The undersigned has purchased and is in process of erecting a dwelling upon Lot No. 10 in Block No. 6 as shown on the map of the First Subdivision of Broad Acres. This lot is on Luzern Place and adjoins the property of Joseph Yanklowitz at 9 Luzern Place. THIRD: If this petition is granted thus offording the undersigned the privilege of attaching to the sewers of this sewer district, the undersigned agrees to comply with all provisions of the said contract in the same manner as 'all other persons who are benefited thereby. FOURTH: Your early consideration of this petition is requested, since the constructioxi has reached a stage where sewer provisions must be made at once. _ John M. Dillon Signed this 19th day of June, 1963. The signing of Contract#4 and 4A, was completed at this time. Lengthy discussion to do with a subdivision known as Patton Drive, was aired at length. "A new deed will be presented to the board at a later date to conform with the requests of the Town Board on the layout of the roads in the development. Decision on the duties of a Water Superintendent for the new Queensbury Water District was disgused at this time. Appointment will be reached at an early date. RESOLUTION NO. 102, introduced by Mr. Beaty, seconded by Mr. Akins WHEREAS, the Town Planning 'Board has presented to - the Town Board a report, dated May 2, 1963, wherein the Planning Board recommends the employment of Candueb-Fleissig.. and. Associates as planning consultant for the Town of Queensbury, at an estimated total cost, including federal and state administrative charges, of $24,,868.00, of which the share of the Town of Queensbury under the 701 program would be approzimately $4,145.00, be it RESOLVED that the employment 'of Candueb-Fleissig and Associates as planning consultant for the Town of Queensbury at a fee of $22,000.00 be and the same hereby is adthorized. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mr. Akins and Mr. Webster. Noes - Mr. Turner and Mr, Lampson. Following the recommendations of Mr. D. Frank Sullivan, the Chairman of the Democratic Committee and Mr. LeRoy Phillips, the Chairman of the Republician Committee the Election Inspectors for the year of 1963 were appointed. RESOLUTION NO. 103 introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Akins. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr, Lampson, Mr. Akins and Mr. Webster Noes - None RESOLUTION NO. 104 introduced by Mr. Beaty, seconded by Mr. Turner RESOLVED, that permission is hereby granted to Mr. John Dillon of 27 June Drive, Glens Falls, New York, to make application to the City of Glens Falls, for water service to a new residence at LOt #10 Block #6 of the first sub-division of Broad Acres, thereby becoming a water customer of the City of Glens. Falls and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the 'City Water Board and to Mr. John Dillon, 27 June Drive, Glens Falls, New York. On motion the meeting was adjourned.
