Miller Councilman C The .Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Samuel Hicks was present and discussed with the Board the pavement of the Sylvan Avenue, The New York State Department of Health mailed a report in connection with the water district on Assembly Point showing the results of an ex- amination of water. A discussion was had among the members of the Board and the Town Super- intendent of Highways who was also present in connection with the widen- ing of East Sanford Street. A discussion was had respecting the filling of gravel in the Town dump. Town Superintendent of Highways, Bernard Coduer, who was also present recommended that a road be improved leading to the bottom of the dump. t Resolution No. 84 introduced by Mr. Bentley and seconded by Mr. Lampson. RESOLVE that there shall be expended a sun of not to exceed $75.00 for the purpose of improving the read at the Town dump leading "to the bottom thereof, FURTHER RESOLVE that the Superintendent of Highways be and is here- by authorized and directed to perform the necessary work within the amount appropriated thereof. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Mr, Miller, Mr. Bentley, Mr, Lampson, Mro Akins and Mr. Webster NO s:' None Charles Oakes, a representative of the Mott-Manbeck Machinery Company _ Inc, was present in connection with the Town purchase of a used 1948 Gutter Snipe Sweeper. The Town Superintendent of Highways orally recommended thatthe Town acquire by purchase the sweeper. Resolution No. 85 introduced by Mr. Miller and seconded by `Mr. Akins. RESOLVE that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury hereby approves the purchase of one used 1948 .Gutter Snipe Sweeper from Mott. Manbeck Machinery Company, Inc. at a cost of $990.00 by the 'Town Super- intendent of Highways. Duly adopted by the following vote Ayes - Mr* Miller, Mr,* Bentleys Mr, Lampson, Mr, Akins and Mr. Webster Nees - None A discussion was had relative to the acquisition of a truck and chassis for use in connection with the highway work. The Superintendent of Highways recommended the acquisition of such equipment. The Superintendent of Highways reported that the Peggy Ann Road is about -- 95% ;ravel and had but about 25% to 359 coated. " A discussion was had among, the members of the Board respecting the-daft. Serous traffic conditions existing at the intersections of the East-West By-Pass by the several twain roads in the Town of Queensbury. Resolution No. 86 introduced by Mr. Akins and seconded by Mr. Bentley. 258 WHEREAS, the new County highway known as Quaker Road located wholly within the Town of Queensbury has now been opened to traffic for a period of several weeks, and WHEREAS, a considerable number of automobile accidents have already occurred at the various intersections of tb s. new highway, and WHEREAS, this Town Board has already provided for anber inter- sectional highway lighting at all of these intersections, and WHEREAS, this Town Board feels that existing controls are totally inadequate and traffic control lighting is indicated, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Town Board express it's deep concern for the safety of this highway, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the State of New York, and the County of Warren, are hereby requested and urged to face up to their -responsibility in taking_ immediate and decisive action necessary to make this highway safe for motorists and pedestrians# and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the New York State Department of Public Works, and the Warren County Highway Department. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Miller, Mr. Bentley, Mr. Lampson, W. Akins and Mr. Webster. Noes - None A discussion was had respecting an iron gate at the West Glens Falls Cemetery, Resolution No. 87 introduced by Mr. Akins and seconded by Mr. Miller RESOLVE that the Board hereby approves of a water tap being granted to Edward C. Bennett, Aviation Road, FURTHER RESOLVE that a copy of this rmoludon be submitted to the Water Board of the City of Glens Falls Duly adopted by the following Grote; Mr. Ir lfiller,Mr.Bentley;lgr; ,�1 �© be� Wwell South who was present and who is secretary of the Queensbury Central Volunteer Fire Company Inc. presented an application in dune form for snamended license for nine occasions from August 5, 1961 through.Sept- ember 30, 1961. The required fen of $90.00 was also submitted with the application. Resolution No. 88 introduced by Mr. Miller and seconded by Mr. Akins. WHEREAS, the Queensbury Ceatral.Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. Has submitted-an application to amend its bingo license for the year 1961 and has submitted the required fee of $90.00 for nine occasions,and, WHEREAS, the application is in due form and complies with the statutes in such cases made and 'provided and WHEREAS% an investigation has been made by this Board and after such investigation the Board makes the f oll owir4 findings and determinations: : 1. That the applicant is a qualified organization as defined by law; 2. That all the members designated to conduct games are bonafide active members of the- applicant organization; 3. That all the members designated to conduct games, and the as- sistants, are of good moral character; 4. That all the members designated to conduct games, and the as- r" sistants, have new been convicted of a crime; 5. That the games are to be held according to the Bingo Licensing Law, the Rules and Regulations of the State Lottery Control Commission, and local ordinances; _ 259 6. That the entire net proceeds are to be used solely for pur- poses permitted by the Bingo Licensing Law; 7. That there: is satisfactory proof that no commission, salary, compensation, reward or recompense will be paid or given to any person for conducting the games or assisting therein, ex- cept to the extent allowed by Law; 8. That there is satisfactory proof that the type and value of prizes will conform to Law; 9. That no rent for the premises has been paid and As a result of the findings and determinations stated above the application to amend the license of the Queensbury Central Volunteer Fire Company Inc. is hereby granted. RESOLVE that the Town Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed to sign the necessary findings and determinations and issue an amended license to conduct bingo games in accordance with the ap- plication received. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Miller, Mr, Bentley, Mr. Lampoons Mr. Akins and Mr. Webster. Noes - None A discussion was had respecting water meters in a newspaper item re- specting .the installation thereof.. Harold Akins reported orally on the officers and chiefs meeting of the several fire companies held at the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Co. Inc. fire house and stated that four points of discussion Were had as follows: (1)Requested that duplicate and similar street names be eliminated. (2)That the fire department eeompand es would like to have filed with the fire companies development maps showing streets and water distribution thereon. (3)Requested that the location of hydrants be marked by iron rods with a flag attached. (4)Requested a copy of report of construction on new buildings.
