1961-08-24 267 Regular Meeting August 24th, 1961 Present. _ John 0. Webster Supervisor Harold Akins Justice of the Peace Curtis- Lampson Councilman Stanley B. Miller Councilman The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Mr, James D. Griffin was present and expressed his appreciation for the Boards action for what was done to slow down traffic on the Country Club Road. Gerald Hammond, Chairman of the Town Democratic Committee advised the Board.that the list for the Democratic inspectors of election has not been completed. The matter of appointing election inspectors was put over to the next meeting, A discussion was had respecting water samplings made by W. R. Lee. A petition was presented requesting that signs be erected on the Montray Road and Sweet Road to read. "Caution, Children At Play, Slow Down". The petition was signed by 7 people residing in that area. The matter was referred to the Highway Comm.itteeVw study. An irder of the Public Service commission which canceled and revoked a Certificate of Public Convenience and -Necessity held by John W, DeGraff DBA Granville Bus Lines. The following report was presented by Mr. Codner, County Superintendent of Highways: Report of work for the season of 1961 to date. Roads that have been hard surfaced Feeder Dam Harris Road - Cleverdale Lynn Ave.-Ellsworth Luzern Mountain Sunset Ave, Gunn Lane Meadow View Road ftp Noyes Road Lupine Lane Hall Road Walkup Road Reardon Road. Gurney Lane Rockwell Road Assembly Point Carlton Drive Twin Channels Greenway Drive Columbia Ave. Base on Sunset Lane, Scotty•s Road, Pinecrest Drive The above covers approximately five miles Roads and Streets that have been re-surfaced Richardson Street Rolling Ridge Stain Channel Hill Warren Street Second Street Quarry Crossing Lucerne Road Katherine Street Sherman Ave Pine Street Harris Street Park Street Assembly Point Phillips Ave. Cottage Hill Road Lynn Ave.-South end _-_ Glen Lake Road Part of Highland Ave. Nacy Road The above covers approximately six miles Swamped out and graded Peggy Ann Road 268 Swamped out and graded Pitcher Road The above cover three and one third miles In addition to the regular maintenance of the highways, num- erous trees were taken down and disposed of. Over 100 Street signs and "Entering the Town of Queensbury" signs were erected. Bernard F. Codner (signed) Supt. of Highways A discussion was had relating to docks located on the Town property it Glen Lake. Matter referred to Mr. Miller to take up the legal aspects relating thereto with a County Attorney. A discussion was had relating to blacktop on Sylvan Avenue. Superintendent Codner reported that the fence around Reservoir Park will be completed by August 25th, 19610 A discussion was had relating t0 the Clinton-Smith Development on Richardson Street and relating to such development that after the Super- intendent of Highways had been satisfied respecting the drainage thereon the Board would approve plan of development. A discussion was had respecting the Sears Roebuck and Company plot plan showing grading, draining and sewage respecting the shopping center. A discussion was had respecting the proposal of gigi�ly Chapman re- questing the Town to convey back certain property O fwel Town of Queens- bury for road purposes for the reason that the Northway has evade it impractical for a Town highway. The matter was referred to the County Attorney. At this point in the meeting Mr. Bentley entered and took part in the proceedings. RESOLUTION NO. 94 introduced by Mr. Miller and seconded by Mr. Akins. RESOLVE that the Town Board hereby consents that water taps be made for the following: ~ A. Guersie Meadow Brook Road Lynwood Chase - Dixon Court FURTHER RESOLVE that the Town Clerk notify the water commissioner of the City of Glens Falls respecting such consent. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Miller, Mr. Bentley, Mrs Lampson, Mr. Akins and Mrs Webster. Noes - None Mr. Webster reported that he had received a check for $100.00: from the Sheriffb Department respecting "ine paid to the Sheriff's Department.
