Ordinance Regulating the Operation of
Motor Boats in the Town of Queensbury„
Warren County, New York. `
Be It Resolved and Ordained by the Town Board of the Town of
Queensbury, Warren County, New York, as follows .
Sec. 1.. Definitions. The term "Person" as used in this ordinance
shall include an individual, society, club, firm, partnership, corpor-
ation or association of persons , and the singular number shall include
the plural number.
The term "boat's as used' in this ordinance shall include any vessel
propelled in any other manner than by hand.
The term "motor" as used in this ordinance shall include both in-
board and outboard engines using gasoline or similar fuel.
The term *waters" as used in this ordinance shall include lakes
and ponds but shall exclude. the Hudson River and Lake George.
Sec. Restrictions on operation. No person shall operate on
any waters wholly within the Town of Queensbury any boat having a motor
installed therein or attached. thereto, at a speed greater than` five miles
per hour within one hundred feet from any shore.
Sec. 3. Penalties. Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be guilty of a middemeanor and upon conviction
thereof be punishable by a fine not exceeding Fifty Dollars for each of-
-fense or by imprisonment in the County Jail for not more than thiety days,
or by both such fine or imprisonment, and upon failure to pay such fine
to be imprisoned in the County Jail until such fine be paid, not to ex-
ceed one day for each dollar of the fine imposed.
Sec. 4. Effective date.. This ordinance shall take effect immediate:

A number of Glen Lake residents who were present were asked to vote
either for or against the ordinance above set forth. The expressions of

Mr. McDonald suggested that swimmers be accompanied by- row-boat or buoy.
J. Cooper thinks that 100 ft. is not far enough. Should stay 100 ft. or
more,
Control should be established for swimmers to stay within 100 ft. from
shore
Frank Ruddock suggested that anyone with tube has as much right to
the lake as a boat.
Bart' Riordan stated his belief that a buoy cannot be put out without
permission from the State.
Resolution No. 74 introduced by Mr. Bentley seconded by Mr.. Walkup..
RESOLVED that the pipe on the Sweet Road be extended to the east-
erly boundary of the North Glens- Falls Water District.
Be it further resolved that Councilman Lampson be authorized to
purchase the necessary material and obtain labor for such installation.

` Harold Aikens asked me for papers to permit the Town Board to
_ grant a permit for fireworks display by one of the fire companies.
The subject of permits for fireworks is covered by Section 1894a
_ of the Penal Law and requires a written application and a permit.
Unless the applicant is a municipality, the section requires a policy
of insurance in the amount of at least $5,,000.00 to protect the Town.
. I have prepared and enclose herewith a form of application and a
form of permit to be granted by the Supervisor.

Inc. , for the fireworks to be displayed by the Amsterdam Fireworks Co.
at the lot west of West Glens Falls Fire Co. #1 Inc. , ftilding on the
6th day of August, 1955, or on -the following day-in the event of rain.

New York, pursuant to Section 1894a of the Penal Law, and upon the writ-
ten application therefor, for a public display of-fireworks in said Town
on the 6th day of August, 19551, at night o'clock, P.M. by West Glens -
Falls Vol. Fire Co. , of West Glens Falls, Town of Queensburys sponsors 1,
to be discharged by Amsterdam Fireworks Co. upon condition that the
point where the fireworks are to be fixed shall. be at least 200 feet
from the nearest permanent dwelling, public highway or railroad or
other means of travel, and at least -50 .feet from a telephones, telegraph
or electric power line , tree or other overhead obstructions that the

audience be restrained at least 150 feet from the point of discharge,
and upon condition that the above named applicant shall file a bond
or policy of indemnity insurance in the amount of 15,000.00 conditioned
for the payment of all damages which may be caused .by such display.

The board convened at 7:30 P.M.
The following persons were also present Jean Giorginni ,, Stephen Gior-
gianni , Francis Poutre , John Plower, Josephine Flower, Shirley Dougher,
Joseph Dodgher, James Caccavo, Roscoe Rowell. They discutsed with the
board the condition of the Sunnyside Road, especially in reference to
widening of said road.
Beecher Hartman was present in reference to the Hartman development on
the Corinth Road. Discussion was had '',on acceptance of road by the Town
and a map of the development was placed on file.
An unverified petition requesting the Town Board ,to install a sewer on
the +Boulevard was presented to the Board by Anthony Caivano. He was in-
formed as to the procedure to be followed; the petition was received
and filed.
Bart Riordan and Jack Regan representing the Glen Lake Association were
present. The need for certain Signs was discussed.-
Discussion was also had on road conditions in general.
It was proposed' that the town adopt an ordinance as follows :
