Resolution No. 94 introduced by Mr. Akins, seconded by Mr. Lampson: RESOLVED that Mr. Bentley be and, is hereby designated presiding officer of--the meeting for the reason that Mr. Harris , the Supervisor, is ill.. Duly adopted: by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Bentley, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Akins. - Mr. Lackey, orally at this meeting, recommended that the Town acquire by purchase a motor grader for use in connection with highway main- tenance and care. Resolution No. 95 introduced by Mr. Akins, seconded by Mr. Lampson. WHEREAS the Town Board is desirous of obtaining for use in the Highway Department for road maintenance and care a motor grader, RESOLVED that pursuant to the provisions of the General Munici- pal Law, the Town Board shall give notice to tkie suppliers of such equipment to furnish such equipment which shall be in substantially the following form: NOTICE TO-BIDDERS: Notice is hereby give. that ,the. Town Board will receive sealed proposals to supply the Town of Cgeensbury with a motor grader con - taining specifications as follows: TOWN OF QUEENSBURY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT - SPECIFICATIONS FOR MOTOR GRADER 356 GENERAL: It is the intent of these specifications to describe a standard current new and unused heavy duty Grader if t)ge Tand - em 4-wheel drive type having power applied, to all four wheels and of the high lift moldboard type for cutting back slopes up to 90 deg. perpendicular. WEIGHT; The weight shall be not less than 25!100 lbs. including cab. T Liquid in tires will not be permitted, FRAME: The frame shall be of such steel construction, rigidly re - inforced, and of ample structural strength to insure against all weaving and distortion when working to full capacity of the machine. The frame members shall be composed of one piece of struct- ural steel running throughout the length of the Grader with- out any joints. The weight per foot of the frame section shall be at least 122 lbs. FINAL DRIV& The walls on the tandem drive case shall be not less than . 1" in thickness. The final drive must be by roller chain. POWER UNIT: Water-cooled 6-cylinder diesel 4-cycle engine with Torque Converter and power shift transmission. Engine shall develop not less than 125 h.p:. at no more than 2400 RPM* It shall have hood sides , hour meter, muffler, electric starting,, generating and lighting equipment. CONTROLS: All. controls must be power hydraulic. MOLDBOARD AND CUTTING EDGE: The moldboard shall be .40-.50 carbon. ste 13 ft. -.in length and not less than 24" in width prior to forming and not less than 3/4" thick. The cutting edge shall be 611 wide and not less than 1/2" thick in 1-6' and 1-71 section.. There shall be a number of pitch adjustments for satisfac- tory- performance and the moldboard shall have a hydraulic- ally operated- side shift and shall be completely controlled from the cab so as to place the moldboard at a 90 deg.bank sloping angle on one side to 90deg. on the other side with- out leaving the cab or making any manual adjustments or changing lift links or pins. TRANSMISSION The power train -shall be of the Torque Converter type with full power shift under full load. conditions. Converter multiplication shall be not less than 3 to 1 and equipped with an adequate heat exchanger and tail shaft governor. SPEEDS: Transmission shall furnish & speeds forward and S reverse in approximate ranges as listed below: lst .66-3.14 2nd 1.32-6.27 3rd 2.12210.09 4th 4.25:-20.18 WHEELS AND TIRES: Front and rear wheels shall be interchangeable.. Tires shall not be less than 14.00 x 24 - 12 ply on both front and rear wheels. FRONT AXLE: Front axle shall have a ground clearance of at least 2911. 357 4-wheel hydraulic brakes shall be provided. STEvRI�TG: Heavy duty mechanical steering with hydraulic booster. CAB: Cab shall be completely enclosed and of steel construction, shatterproof windshield and windows, and equipped with heater, defroster, rear vision mirrors and electric windshield wipers , and of sufficient height to accommodate an operator standing up during the operation of the machine. EQUIPMENT: Grader shall be equipped with electric lights. If equipment offered dif- fers from the provisions contained-in these specifications , such differences must be explained in detail,and bid will re- ceive careful consideration if such deviations do not depart from the intent of these specifications and are to the best interests of the Town-of Queensbury, as interpreted by the Town Board.
