The following° letter was read to the Board: March, 27, 1953 Mrs. Bert Turner, Clerk Town of Queensbury 388 Ridge Street Glens Falls , N.Y. Dear Mrs. Turner: Policy No. 26610 Garage and Storage Bldg.. + Town of Queensbury S16 Aviation Road {-- Following a routine Inspection. for fire insurance Purposes , we wish to advise you that both the front and rear buildings have very poor housekeeping conditions and reflect a lack of proper supervision. There appears to be a considerable accumulation of rubbish inside and outside both buildings. Smoking is permitted in both buildings. Both buildings have coal stoves for heat but neither one has metal containers for removal of hot ashes. t In the front building, gasoline is` used for the cleaning of parts and equipment and as a matter of fact, gasoline was being sprayed with an air gun which makes the hazard considerably worse. All cleaninp, and washing of parts should be done outside the buildings or if done inside, with nothing more inflammable than kerosene. There Were numerous old oily rags thrown around the building and not deposited in the approved'safety waste can on the premises for that purppse. . In the year building, :her was a 55 gallon drum (partly filled) of inflammable anti-freeze solution within three Feet of the coal stove. This should be well removed from the `stove and put in the separate store room attached to the rear building. , The rear build .ng also shows lack of maintenance and is in rather poor physical condition,. f lrllould you' lease w p pass this report on to the proper authority and we would appreciate your cooperation in seeing that the necessary steps are taken to improve the'housekeeping conditions of this property. We_will keep this risk on diary for further inspection in another.' month- or so to see if conditions 4ave unproved ; in order f9r ,us to continue insurance on your `risk. , Very truly yours, (Signed) IV.B.
