Subject: Code Violations, Building 4A isting Warehouse)
As of Tuesday, 10-4-94, the following actions have been
taken:
1. Restrooms:
A. Exterior plywood paneling: Removed, painted both sides
with Class 'A' paint, rehung.
Note: Shipping office plywood has also been painted.
B. Handrails moved.
C. Exterior doors rehung to swing out. Guard rails
installed to move aisle out away from outward swinging
doors.
D. Sink piping wrapped with insulation.
2 . Office over fire pump house:
A. Office and wood deck have lie.en removed. A metal deck
will be installed next week to protect the fire pump and
controls.
B. A door is being added (by 11-1-94) to provide access to
the fire pump from outside (per insurance carrier) .
3 . Floor plan of this building is available. Haanen
Engineering (Tom Nace) is working on a structural plan for
the mezzanine.
4 . Waiting for final price quote for sprinkler replacement
over the big product racks. Plans will be approved by our
insurance company's underwriter (then submitted to you)
prior to starting work.
Please feel free to inspect this work at your
convenience.
I also have the following work out for bid:
■ Cut through the exterior (non-bearing) wall at the
southeast corner of Bldg 3 to allow installation of a new
employee entrance. Concrete pouring: 8' X 8 ' landing
elevated approx 48", and steps down to existing macadam
parking lot.
• Install small gabled roofs over all exit doors: All metal
frame and sheet metal roofing.
Please advise if permits/inspections are required.

BUILDING 4A:
• Failed fire inspection by Queensbury Fire Marshal on
8-23-94 . Discrepancies cited:
1. Install additional sprinkler heads in the shipping
office and restrooms, to be completed by 9-6-94 . Rock
Foss's office needs a sprinkler head also, but see
below.
2 . AVI will receive $ quotation from Fire Control Inc
for replacing the inadequate sprinkler system above
the flow (FIFO) racks. The existing sprinkler system
in Bldg 4B is adequate for these racks, so moving the
racks will have to be considered.
NOTE: This is a major project that will need to
be reviewed by upper management.
3 . Install a sprinkler tamper switch.
• Building code discrepancies cited are listed below.
Gaining Occupancy will take more time due to rebuilding
Rock's office and replacing the sprinkler system, but
all work will be expedited.
k1. Rock's office (wood construction) will be torn down
and replaced with metal stud construction. Structural
and floor plans for the new office will be submitted
to you prior to constrzz;::.ion.
2 . Structural and floor plans of the mezzanine storage
area will be supplied to you.
3 . Floor plans of the shipping office and restrooms will
be supplied to you.
4./ Plywood over the restroom's ceiling and shipping
office's ceiling will be removed, painted with Class C
/ paint, and re-installed.
5. Interior and exterior walls of the restrooms and
shipping office will be painted over with Class C
x.paint.
Exit sign near shipping office will be relocated.
Restroom handrails will be raised.
. Restroom sink plumbing will be wrapped with pipe
4 insulation.
Restroom doors will be reversed to swing out.
I believe this covers all discrepancies cited. I tried
to write as fast as you both talked, so please contact me if
ommissions were made. I will keep you informed as we
progress towards re-inspection for compliance.
