Building Permit & Subdivision Map Searches
Building Permit and Subdivision Map Example in Laserfiche
The Laserfiche system has some built in help on how to use the Search filters that can be accessed by
clicking on the Help link at the top of any page. The following is an example of the Town of
Queensbury information.
If you know the building permit number it is possible to open the proper folders and drill down to find
the building pennit. If you are looking for an original building permit for a property it is more likely
you do not know any more than a location. Using the "Field" function of the Laserfiche search tool
can assist in finding the permit.
As an example, you are looking for the original building permit for a house on Heinrick Circle.
Stali by clicking on the "Search" tab (1) from the Laserfiche start page.

Now anyone of these fields can be used to search for a building permit. Remember this is the
information at the time of the building pennit, locations ( addresses) may have changed due to 911
readdressing, parcel tax map numbers were changed by the state in 2001. For our example we will
search the Location field for Heinrick Circle. Use the "*" symbol as a wild card to search for all
locations ofHeinrick Circle (5). Similar to the following:

Click on the Search button at the bottom of the window to find all the building permits that have
Heinrick Circle in the location field . You will see permit results starting in 1975 and continuing on.
Click on the building permit number in the left hand column to see the actual pennit.
One thing to understand is that when most subdivisions are built the houses are given lot numbers with
in the subdivision that do not correspond to the street addresses that the house will eventually be
identified as. To help find a parcel and its corresponding lot number we can use the subdivision maps.
Heinrick Circle is in the Evergreen subdivision and the subdivision map is also part of the Laserfiche
system. By viewing the subdivision map we can find the lot number associated with the property and
use the lot number to search for the original building pennit.
Subdivision maps are under the Subdivision folder of the Building Department folder. They are filed
alphabetically by the subdivision name. Open the folders to find the Evergreen Section 3 folder
