RALPH VANDUSEN Supervisor Fred Champagne-Opened the Meeting Discussion held-West Glens Falls Water District-Improvements and future... The Town Water Dept. presented the Town Board with several scenarios of payment that would be made by the residents of the West Glens Falls Water Dist. these proposals were reviewed by the Town Board. Deputy Water Supt. Ralph VanDusen-Currently the average family of West Glens Falls Water District receives a flat rate bill, the average single family home would pay a family use charge of ten dollars plus four dollars for a tub or shower and four dollars for a toilet totaling $18.00 extra toilets $2.50 each Extra $6.00 for hose hookup just in the May bill... West Glens Falls receives a bill twice a year every six months... Proposal to bring the rates the same as the Queensbury Parent District...which would raise the rates by 170 % noted the current code says anyone receiving water from the Queensbury Consolidated Water Dist. pumping station has to be metered.... Councilman Caimano-Questioned if the district would still be charged for bathrooms, hookup etc.? Water Supt. Thomas Fhaherty-You would have to, until you get meters in... Deputy Water Supt. VanDusen-The rate proposal would raise $41,000 in revenue that would be sufficient to cover the costs in buying from Queensbury which we expect to be $35,000 and leave enough left over to pay the annual buy in fee of $6,375. Water Supt. Flaherty-It does not provide for capital improvements. Supervisor Champagne-Noted funding for Capital Improvement for the Dist. would come from Federal Dollars if possible... Water Supt. Flaherty-Noted in 1982 a report was written to the Board and revised for Steve Borgos, that told the Board that this was going to happen, it reported in 1984 the we were going to have to raise the taxes 67% ...the water rate has not been raised in West Glens Falls since 1976. Attorney Dusek-Reviewed the process of consolidating the West Glens Falls Water Dist. into the Qsby. Consolidated Water Dist...not until 1996 .. .discussed contracting until the consolidation... Councilman Caimano-Requested that an informational hearing for the residents be held... Discussion held regarding the State time frame ... it was suggested to try and get an extension from DEC...also try to contact Assemblyman Jim King for his assistance if that is not successful and also have Mr. Flaherty file the application...a resolution will be done Monday night to authorize Mr. Flaherty to file the application...
