OA note needs to be added to the plans that all doors will have lever handles. The stairs on the plan show a seven and one sixteenth inch rise. The Code requirement is maximum seven inch rise. As these are not Code compliant by the dimensions shown on the plans, you will need to adjust the stairs accordingly to show a maximum seven inch rise. The Building Code requires that handrails be provided on both sides of the stairwell, and that they extend 12 inches beyond the top step and the bottom XThe step of the stairs. Please show details accordingly. wall that adjoins the stairs on the second floor must be a minimum of 42 inches in height. It is not clear on the plans whether this will be a full height wall or a half wall. ke will need structural calculations that show the true calculations for snow, ind, floor and seismic loading. We will need the actual calculations done by Mr. Jensen to show that he has verified minimum Code requirements. ealo You are required to provide special inspections during the construction of this project which means that a person, an engineer or architect must make periodic inspections during the framing stages to assure that the construction is in accordance with the plans and provide a signoff letter before a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued. I would ask that you provide some type of contract or letter stating who will perform the special inspections for you. The Building Code requires that the building be identified as having truss roof construction. The Code requirement is a six inch circle with red outline and red letters with a Roman numeral number five and a letter R underneath in that six inch circle. I would ask that you provide a detail showing the description of the truss ID placard and the locations are required at all entrances and exits to the building. The energy evaluation through the ComCheck program has been provided. However, it is not signed and stamped by Mr. Jensen. Also, you are required "HOME OF NATURAL BEAUTY . . . A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE" SETTLED 1763 to submit a mechanical and lighting evaluation as a part of the ComCheck program. Please provide that documentation signed and sealed by Mr. Jensen. The Fire Marshal is inquiring if the fire alarm system shown on the second floor is an extension of one on the first floor. The fire code requires that the system be monitored by an alarm company. Once all the above items have been addressed, a building permit will be issued for your project. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 761-8253. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Also, pertaining to #6, our architect Peter Jensen will be the party making the periodic inspections throughout the construction process to verify the construction is in accordance with the plans and will provide a signoff letter for the c/o to be issued. #9 of the letter also asks that we have an extension of the first floor fire alarm to the 2nd floor addition. I have called NY Fire and Signal and have sent them a copy of our plan for them to design our system. I'm expecting the same back within a few weeks. Each zone of a multiple-zone system must have its own temperature control device. 4. An integrated air economizer is required for Individual cooling systems over 65 kBbA in the selected climate. An integrated economizer allows simultaneous operation of outdoor air and mechanical doling. 5. Systems serving multiple thermostatic control zones must be variable-flow systems.Zone terminal controls must reduce the flow of primary supply air before reheating, recooling,or mixing air streams. 6. Multiple-zone systems must include controls capable of resetting the supply air temperature by at least 26%of the difference between the design supply air temperature and the design room temperature. Generic Requirements: Must be met by all systems to which the requirement is applicable: 1. Design heating and cooling loads for the building must be determined using procedures in the ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals or an approved equivalent calculation procedure. 2. All equipment and systems must be sized to be no greater than needed to meet calculated bads.A single piece of equipment providing both heating and doling must satisfy this provision for one function with the capacity for the other function as small as possible, within available equipment options. Exception:The equipment and/or system capacity may be greater than calculated loads for standby purposes.Standby equipment must be automatically controlled to be off when the primary equipment and/or system is operating. Exception:Multiple units of the same equipment type whose combined capacities exceed the calculated load are allowed if they are provided with controls to sequence operation of the units as the load increases or decreases. 3. Each heating or doling system serving a single zone must have its own temperature control device. 4. Each humidification system must have its own humidity control device. 5. Thermostats controlling both heating and coding must be capable of maintaining a 5 degrees F deadband(a range of temperature where no heating or coding is provided). - Exception:Deadband capability is not required if the themotstat does not have automatic changeover capability between heating and doling. 6. The system or zone control must be a programmable thermostat or other automatic control meeting the following criteriam)capable of setting back temperature to 55 degrees F during heating and setting up to 85 degrees F during codingb)capable of automatically setting back or shutting down systems during unoccupied hours using 7 different day schedulesc)have an accessible 2-hour occupant overrided)have a battery back-up capable of maintaining programmed settings for at least 10 hours without power. Exception:A setback or shutoff control is not required on thermostats that control systems serving areas that operate continuously. - Exception:A setback or shutoff control is not required on systems with total energy demand of 2 kW(6,826 Btu/h)or less. 7. Outdoor-air supply systems with design airflow rates>3,000 cfm of outdoor air and all exhaust systems must have dampers that are automatically closed while the equipment Is not operating. 8. The system must supply outside ventilation air as required by Chapter 4 of the Mechanical Code for New York State.if the ventilation system is designed to supply outdoor-air quantities exceeding minimum required levels, the system must be capable of reducing outdoor-air flow to the minimum required levels. 9. Air duds must be insulated to the following levels:a)Supply and return air ducts for conditioned air located in unconditioned spaces (spaces neither heated nor cooled)must be insulated with a minimum of R-5.Unconditioned spaces include attics, crawl spaces, unheated basements, and unheated garages.b)Supply and return air duds and plenums must be insulated to a minimum of R-8 when located outside the building.c)When ducts are located within exterior components(e.g.,floors or roofs),minimum R-8 insulation is required only between the dud and the building exterior.
