Fred LaPann and Robert Batease presented a petition which was read to the
board:
February 22, 1950
We, the undersigned, do hereby request that a black-top be laid on our
road at Twin Channell Park, R.F.D. ##2, West Glens Falls, New York. The
following are our reasons for making this request:
1. The.rpad" commissioner has informed us that if our road had a black-
top the snow 'plows could come down our hill much sooner than is now poss-
ible. Now, we have to wait until` the large snow plow is available. This
usually results in our losing several hours of work each time we have a
storm,
20 After the roads have•frozen,, the ruts make it impossible for the
workers to keep our roads in decent condition for travel. This causes much
wear and tear on all cars.
3. In some cases; business is very much impaired by the condition of the
roads , because the road remains impassible for several hours at a time.
4. In the spring and fall,,;. it is, impassible to keep the mud from the

bottom of the hjll. This .condition is fully as bad as the snow.
There,were nineteen signers on this petition.

Ridge Road
Gentlemen:
I am enclosing herewith memorandus of the cost of installing the
8" cast iron water main, with accessories, on Glenwood ,Avenue between
the Bay Road4na a point opposite Pjneview Road totalling X453 lin..
feet including the hydrants 1ranches.
The original estimate of the cost of this installation was
$9110.97 whereas the memos show that the actual cost was 08324.95
*hich means a saving to the District of $811.02 and 83 lin.ft, of
additional main installed, due to the' fact that the proposed road
change opposite the Mark Doyle place was not made.
The total overall cost per linear foot was $3#Z94 as, against
the original estimate of $3*844 or a saving of 45¢ per lin.ft.

der surfaces next spring but an allowance of $366.20 has been taken
into consideration in determining the total costs.
There remains yet on Glenwood Avenue the work of installing the
balance of an 8" cast iron main between the Lake George highway and the
end of the main just completed opposite the Pineview Road, which work I
understand is to be done this spring when the weather conditions will
again permit of going this class of work.
A start was made of installing the 6" cast iron main on Garrison
Road starting at Bay Street and running westerly towards Edison Road.
About 500 lin.ft, of this main -was installed before weather conditions
set in which made it advisable to discontinue any more work until the
front has deft the liround next !spring.
No particular difficulties were -encountered in making any of
these installations except for a fret trench about 200 f eet in length
on Glenwood Avenue and approximately the same condition on Garrison
Road in the vicinity of the culvert under the road a short distance
westerly _of Bay Road.

the, Ins. adjuster looked at the damage, he readily agreed it was a justified
