The board generally discus sed with the people present. the drainage - situation in the Broadacres and Dixon Road area of the Town of Queens- bury. There was some. discussion in reference to the formation of a . drainage district. In connection with the drainage of the Broadacres .area and Dixon Road area, the visitors to the Board named Mr. Kreiser = Mr. Thompson and Mr. Bainbridge as a committee on such drainage. • the . Bentley Justice of the Peace Raymond Walkup Councilman Absent: Curtis Lampson The board convened at 7:30 P.M. Ernest Lackey, Town Supt. of Highways also present. The privilege of the floor was extended to Mr. John Glass who pointed out the numerous house to house canvassers and peddlers who from time to time operate in the Town. He stated he had talked with the Super- --visor in reference to the same and that the Supervisor suggested that he call on the board in reference to the matter and that possibly licensasg of such peddlers and canvassers would remedy the situation. Seward Ball called on the board in reference 'to obtaining a permit for a carnival for' the benefit ,of the Queensbury Central Voluntee ;Fire_ Co. , : Inc. Such carnival to be held from May 1st to the 6th day ofe, 1950, both days inclusive on the property situated in the rear of the' Glendale 'Furniture Co. on the Lake George Hi hway. Carnival - King Reed carnival Dates - 1st of May 1950 to the 6th-day of May, 1950, both days inclusive. Further resolved that a license fee of $100 shall be required for the holding of such carnival for such time. Further resolved that the Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed to issue the permit for the holding of such carnival for such time upon the payment of such permit fee of 4100. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Walkup, Mr. Bentley, Mr. Sleight and Per. Harris Does - none The privilege of the floor was extended to Mr. Sidney Van Dusen who advised the board that Ed Barber had offered $25 for the 1926 Chevrolet truck used in the Cemetery. Mr. Van Dusen also reported the sale of three lots for $2240. He also discussed with the Uown Board the condition of the fence around the Sunny- ' side cemetery. Mr.• Van Dusen also presented deeds to -the Town Board con- veying lands for highway purposes. . Resolution 30, introduced by Justice Sleight seconded by Justice Bentley. RESOLVED that the Town of Queensbury hereby accept as Town Highways the lands described 'in the following deeds: (1) Deed, dated April 22, 1950 from Sidney Van Dusen and Leavitt and Ha°11, Inc. to ,the Town of Queensbury to be known as the Cottage Hill Road. (2) .Deed dated April 22, 1950::from Sidney. Van Dusen and Leavitt and Hall, Inc. to the Town of Queensbury, such highway to be known as Prospect Drive. April 19, 1950 Mrs. Frances Turner, Clerk, Town of Queensbury, R.F.D.- #1,` Glens Falls, N.Y. Dear Madams . The Bay-Ridge Volunteer Fire Company of the Town of Queensbury, being of thelbpinipn that a squad of fire police as defined by Section 176 of the Town law, would be of definite value to said company and would greatly facilitate the following: 1. the movement of fire apparatus and other emergency units. 2. The control of spectators which 1_nevitably congregate at such emergencies. 3. And •to .conduct such other duties which are within the authority of such officidis. Therefore it is hereb y respectfully requested that such a squad be established. The privilege of the 'floor was extended to Mr. Joseph Regan, a ceme- tery commissioner, who discussed the condition of the cemeteries in the Town of Queensbury. He reported that the vault at PineView Cemetery was in bad shape and that the inside needs painting. Leo Ball requested that water be supplied him from the North Glens Falls Water District . Eldridge Moore, president of the board of Education, Union Free School District #2 of the Town of Queensbury, discussed with the Board a proposed road along the school property.
