I left home about 8 'clock Monday morning, arrived in Albany, by auto;; due to leave for Buffalo 11:30 train - 1 hour late. After several delays,, arrived in Buffalo 2 hours late, made the Hotel Statler about 9 o'clock, registered and had supper a little after 10. I met a few from the ,.eastern area. Tuesday morning I attended the general session until noon. It then be- came a series of seasons. Tuesday afternoon was, general business session. In the evening Iattended the annual dinner in the ballroom of Sotel, the Ron. Frank C. Moore was Toastmaster. Wednesday morning the Supervisors and Councilmen held a ,point meeting. Some of the topics discussed were: The Erwin Highway Plan, Pollution Abatement,, Methods and Procedures for Borrowing,, Purposes of Zoning and the Administrative Board* Wednesday afternoon the N.Y. 55 year Retirement Law, Social Security and Civilian Defense as it. affeets Towns, was discussed, also Scur. and Labor haw in relation to Municipal Operation, also how Supervisors can -make effsctiv+s Records Management Program. Evening, "Model Town Board, Nesting" very inst ctive, =dagfmorning I w s present at the Supt. of Highways meeting as a a panel on, "Provisions and Aims" practical and local needs chapter 894 of the lass of 1950 - The Erwin Rural Road Law. Other members of the 8anal were: Mr. Ten Hagen of the State Highway Dept. , Dr. Edward Lnta, ornell. University, Chaarles Potter, Association Council, Dept. Audit and Control, Joseph Book, Dept. of Public Works, Hoke Dennison, Suffolk Co. Highway Dept. , Albi go3k, now President of Assoc. of Towns, Fe.Theo done Jensen, Esc-SeC ., of Assoc. of Towns, Levi P.M.Gaylord, Soey. County Highways Supts.4reo ition and E.U,Jones, Supv. Town of Dickinson. It is very apparent that the State does intend to go ahead with an ap- proved plan for financial assistance to towns, for the improvement cf poor roads. In order for the State to plan ahead, Towns must submit their 10 year plans before the first of June, 1951. No Town can lost by preparing this plan; but unless a town preDarea a plan and has it ap - proved and submitted to the state they will not be able to participate In the plan for 10 years. The plan after approval is flexible enough to work for any town. I consider this a must for Queensbury. About 1:30 we said Good-by to Buffalo - a city that had made us feel a t home. The hotel rooms and food was good,, he service the best the price high, but I ,toyed It all. The train was held up several times —' on the way home, not by bandits but by the weather, arrived in Albany about 7:30 or 8 o'cl ck and home about 10. . t Justice Sleight and Councilman Walkup attended the season and have a lot of information and ill have to speak for themselves.. 1 hope the Town of Queensbury will benefit from our attendance at this meeting.
