RESOLUTION SETTING PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING WEST GLENS
FALLS VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, INC.’S REQUEST FOR ENGINE
REPAIRS AND CORRESPONDING AMENDMENT TO
FIRE SERVICES AGREEMENT

WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury and the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.
(Fire Company) have entered into an Agreement for fire protection services, which Agreement sets
forth a number of terms and conditions including a condition that the Fire Company will not purchase
or enter into any binding contract to purchase any piece of apparatus, equipment, vehicles, real
property, or make any improvements that would require the Fire Company to acquire a loan or
mortgage or use money placed in a “vehicles fund” without prior approval of the Queensbury Town
Board, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Company has advised the Town Board that it is necessary to make
unexpected repairs to the engine of its Tower 4 aerial device for the estimated sum of $15,036.41, and
WHEREAS, this purchase will increase the cost of providing necessary fire protection services
to the Town, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board feels that by spending this amount of money for engine repairs,
the Fire Company will gain additional life out of such apparatus while the Town considers and studies
the future apparatus needs of the Town, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to set a public hearing concerning the proposed increase
in the Fire Company’s budget and amendment of its Fire Services Agreement, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board shall conduct a public hearing concerning the
estimated $15,036.41 increase in the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.’s budget for
repairs to the engine of its Tower 4 aerial device and the corresponding amendment to the Fire
Company’s Agreement with the Town of Queensbury for fire protection services, on Monday, October

15, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Queensbury Activities Center, 742 Bay Road, Queensbury, and
BE IT FURTHER,
RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby authorizes and directs the Queensbury Town Clerk
to publish a Notice of Public Hearing in the Post-Star Newspaper once at least ten (10) days prior to
the Public Hearing.
