1951-08-25 362 Regular Meeting August 25, 1951 Present:, Russell Harris Supervisor Henry Sleight Justice of the Peace Meredith Bentley Justice of the Peace Curtis Lamps on Councilman Raymond Walkup Councilman The board convened at 7:30 P.M. Also present Fred Field, Sidney .Van Dusen, Mr. Johnson, Ernest Lackey, Mr. Whipple. Arthur Reardon, president of the Glen Lake Association called on the board in reference to the Glen Lake road on the north side of the lake. Fred Field discussed the road lea4ing into the south side of Glen Lake and requested that some work be done on it. It was decided to have a special meeting in the near future. Resolution No. 38 introduced by Councilman Walkup, seconded by Coun- mpson: It was resoly d that the Justices of the Peace be and .are hereby authorized to atten the New York State Magistrates' Association meeting to be held at Westport, New York the week of the 17th of September, 1951. It is further resolved that the actual and necessary expenses of the magistrates in attending such meeting shall be a Town charge. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Walkup, Mr. Bentley, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Sleight And Mr. Harris Noes - none Resolution No, 39 introduced by Justice Sleight, seconded by Justice Bentley: It is resolve that the lands conveyed by Michael Ryan and Minnie Ryan, his wife, •Ahi a Murray' and Nora Murray, his wife, of the Town of Queensbury for high ay purposes by deed dated December Z8, 1938 be and is hereby accepted s a .public highway. Ayes - Mr. Walkup, kro Bentley, Mr. .Lampson, .Mr. Sleight and Mr., Harris Noes - none ; _ r ` The following commu ication was read to the board: I August ,21, 1951 We, the undersigned ask that the polling place for Queensbury District No. 4 be moved from the town storehouse on the Aviation Road to the Queensbury Central firehouse on Foster Avenue. Reasons - unsanitary conditions, .bad odors and draughty both in inside building and outside building. Sawn There was general discussion in reference to polling places, in the matter of changing election districts 3 and 4 of the Town of Queensbury, same was referred tc the election committee. In the matter of the blinker at the intersection of Queensbury Avenue and Dix Avenue, also the traffic condition at the junction of Highland Avenue with Dix Avenue, the following resolution was presented and adopted: j �anlY�ti nn Nn:...41. introduced by Justice Bentley, seconded by Justice Sleight : Resolved that there be installed one sodium vapor light st the intersection of Dix Avenue and Queensbury Avenue and one sodium vapor light at the junction of Highland Avenue with Dix Avenue. It is further resolved that the Supervisor be and is hereby author- ized to sign on behalf of the Town the necessary contract ftth the Niagara-Mohawk Power Co. , Inc. for the installation of such light. Ernest Lackey was also present. The board generally discussed with the Town Superintendent the condition and the proposed changes on the Assembly Point road. Mr. Harris discussed the drainage along the railroad track across Glenwood Ave. In connection therewith, Councilman Walkup introduced Resolution No-- � seconded by Supervisor Harris : It was resole d that the Town Board hereby request that the County Superintendent of H ghways take the necessary steps to enlarge the culvert crossing G3 wood Avenue on the westerly side of the railroad tracks in order to arry off surplus surface waters which back up on adjacent properties. Duly -adopted by the following vote: j Ayes - Mr. Walkup, Mr. Bentley, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Sleight and Mr. Harris Noes - .none In the matter of hi hway equipment, the Town Board generally discussed' with the Town Super ntendent the highway equipment. It was decided that the highway committ a was to obtain prices for the purchAse of highway trucks. The committ a was instructed to obtain such prices less highway equipment to be tra ed in. The clerk read a petition signed by 95 people requesting that a constable be appointed and assigned to traffic duties in the hamlet{ of West Glens Falls.
