RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION THROUGH
NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSERVATION MUNICIPAL WASTE REDUCTION
AND RECYCLING PROGRAM

WHEREAS, by Resolution No.: 231,2017, the Queensbury Town Board established the
Clean Energy Communities Capital Project and Town’s Clean Energy Communities Committee,
by Resolution No.: 71,2019 authorized adoption of the New York State Climate Smart
Communities pledge and by Resolution No.: 136,2019 authorized in part the Climate Smart
Communities Capital Project and Climate Smart Communities Capital Project Fund No.: 226,
and
WHEREAS, the New York State Environmental Protection Fund provides a source of
funds dedicated to environmental projects, including programs such as the Municipal Waste
Reduction and Recycling (MWRR) State Assistance Grant program to help municipalities meet
environmental goals and mandates and allows the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation (DEC) to provide MWRR funding to local governments for waste reduction and
recycling projects, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to authorize a grant application through the MWRR
State Assistance Grant Program in an effort to expand and enhance the Town’s waste reduction
and recycling programs, and
WHEREAS, if grant monies are awarded, there is a required 50/50 in-kind match for any
grant monies awarded/expended,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby authorizes and directs submission
of a grant application through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
Municipal Waste Reduction and Recycling (MWRR) State Assistance Grant Program as
delineated in the preambles of this Resolution, and
BE IT FURTHER,
RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor,
Senior Planner, Town Staff, Consultant and/or Town Budget Officer to take any other action
necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
