1940-07-23 e)0 Regular Meeting July 23rd,1940 At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury held on the above date at 7:30 F.M,, at the Clerk' s Office, the Following• menbers were present. Jebez Ingalsbee, Supervisor Curtis Lampoon, Councilman Charles Nobles, Justice of Feaee Meredith Bentley ,Justice of Peace Ralph Been Justice of Peace. Bert D. Turner, Town Clerk. H, Russell Harris, Town Superintendantof Highways also 1 present. Minutes of regular meeting, held on July 23rd 1940, were read and approved. Resolution # 58 Introduced by Mr, Nobles, Seconded by Mr, Lampson WHEREAS, This Board deems it necessary and for the best ' interests of the Town to purchase gravel bed and other material for use on public highways of said town and did appoint a committee to inspect parcel containing approx- imately two acres of land located northerly of the canal near feeder' Dam` and owned by` Martha L.Fok, formerly Martha Lo Robertson, and said committee inspected the property and the owner has offered to convey to the Town of __ queensbury parcel of land consisting of approximately two acres of land upon which there is suitable material for use on ublic highways and bridges of said town for the sum of 11000.00, RESOLVED hf That pursuant to the provisions of section 145 Of the h ghway law, the Town Board purchase said property j from the owner for the sum of $1,000.00, and WMMAS, A dried has been executed and delivered to this Board cone ing said land to the Town of 4ueensbury _f or the sum of 1,000.00, and furnished a search showing said property to be free and clear from all liens, RESOLVED, That said Town Board purchase said property for said sum and the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to have said aeed`recorded in the tarren County Clerk's Office, it is further RESOLVED. That said Owner of said property present verified bill to this board for audit, Duly adopted by the Following vote :- Ayes- Mr, Been, Mr, Nobles, Mr, Lampson, Mr, Bentiky and Mr, Ingalsbe, Noes-None. An application for the position of Truant officer was received from Lucy Akins and read by the clerk P" ION 59, Introduced by Mr. Lampson, Seconded by . Been. It was Resolved that Lucy E, Akins be and is hereby appointed attendance officer for the schoil Year 1940- 1941 for the schools of the Town of Queensbury outside of district #2 subject tbethe approval of the District superintendant"of schools at an annual salary of Two Hendred Dollars payable as follows: $20,00 per month for Ten months on presentation of a properly verified bill ' for same presented to the supervisor. Duly adopted by the following vote : Ayes- A4r, Been, Mr, Nobles, Dar, Lampson, Mr, Bentley and Mr, Ingalsbe* Noes- stone. 31 A committee from assembly point called on the Boar d in reference to erection of signs for the control of traffic on assembly point. The board advise them that the signs were already being made . r A letter from Attorney Leonbruno in reference to raising the Glen Lake Rodd was read to the Board by the Clerk. Natter Refered to the Town Superintendant of Highways, RESOLUTION- No. 60 Introduced by Mr. Bentley, Seconded by Uri Be in, WHERAS It appears that an error was- made in the alteration of election districts #3 & 4 wherein there are a larger portion of voters in election district No 3 RESOLVED, that this Board meet at the office of the Board of Elections and with the clerk's of the board of Election to Examine the registers of District Nos. 334 to determine the number of voters in each of said districts as appears from registers thereof as alteredg it is further, RESOLVED, that the menbers of the committee .of _both parties . of districts Nos. 3& 4 are requested to bee*r,%A�fttthis board. FURTHER RESOLVED that the supervisor fix the date with the clerk's of the Board of Election for said meeting and cause notice of said meeting to be given to the menbers of this Town Board and the aforesaid committeeman. truly adppted by the following vote: AYES- Mr. Been, MR.
