1941-08-12 83 Regular Meeting August 12th,1941 At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of q,ueensbury, held _om.the above date at 7:30 P.M. at the Clerk' s Office, the following menbers were present, Jabez Ingalsbe, Supervisor Curtis Lampoon -Councilman Charles Nobles, Justice• of Peace Meredith BentleyJustice of Peace Ralph Been, Justice of Peace. H. Russell Harris Town Superintendent of Highways also present. Minutes of meeting held on Jul 22nd and Aug,Y 11th, 1941 read and a roved. Dr. George Chapman and Dr Lucas President of the Lake George Assembly Association Called an the Board in reference to the proposed change in location of the Assembly Point Road. The matter' was generally discussed with Dr Lucas and Dr Chapman and other menbers bb the committee who were present and at the suggestion of the Superintendent of Highways Mr. Ingalsbe appointed Justices Been and Nobles a committee to investigate the proposed right of wavy for said road. Said committee to act with the- county Superintendent of highways and the town Superintendent of Highways. The Clerk read a communication from the office of Walter Chambers in reference to claim of Davis Emergency Equipment Company for the sum of (24.50 for first aid kits on WPA projects. The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to ascertain if possible who ordered equipment and who received it and when it was shipped. The Clerk regd a communication from the county Superintendent of Highways which enclosed the approved contract and specifications for the purchase of road equipment covering the purchase of one model 118 sp Frink Snow Plow. The Clerk read a communication from the Glen Association commending Mr. Russell Harris for theef inetwork vhe has done so far on the roads leading into and running along the shores of Glen Lake. The letter also thanked the Town Board for their cooperation in repairing and in keeping in repair, the roads used by the residents of Glen Lakei The letter was placed on file. Communications from the department of health were read by the Clerk which requested certain data CancerAi-ng�the water supply in the North Glens Falls dater District and the West Glens Falls Water District in connection with National t a n 1 Def e nse Activities, Questioneire blanks were furnished for each of the above districts. The committee on the Peters development reported that the proposed road was to be 120 ft. wide. Resolution No, 44. 2 Introduced by Mr. Bentley, seconded by-Mr. Nobles . Whereas, The City of Glens Falls did by deed dated the 17th day Of August, 1938, remise release and quit claim certain land therein described to the Town of Queensbury and among other things the said conveyance was made upon the following conditions, the performance of which on the part of the Town of of consideration therefor: That the�said sTown ofnsueensbs u a portion the improvement and straightening of said Highway and the construc- tion of a new Culvert, will agree to leave proper and convenient driveway`entrances to the remaining lands of the City of Glens Falls adjoining said improvement in approximately the same location as they now exist; and Whereas, the above conditions have not been fulf illedby the said Town of Q,ueensbury. Therefore be it resolved that tho Towh i Aln tendent be and here- by is authorized to perform "etaboV6r1,o said deed. ii0ns as set forth in 84 Further resolved, that the sum of not to exceed $187.00 be and is hereby appropriated for the performance on the part of the Town of' �ueensbury of the conditions as set forth in the aforementioned deed. Further resolved that the cost of materials and labor shall be paid from the general Town Fund. on presentation of properly verified bills for same. Further resolved,ed, that this resolution as to form and legallity shall ,be subjected to the approval by the County Attorney before it takes effect. Duly adopted by the following vote : Ayes - Mr. Been, Mr, Nobles, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Bentley and Mr. Ingalsbe Noes - None Resolution No. 45. Introduced by Mr. Lampson, seconded by Mt. Nobles VWhereas, the Town Board of the Town of 4ueensbury deem the Town Road Highway at the Dixon Road and running westerly from said Dixon Road along the south side of the property afid. water sheds of the City of Glens Falls for a distance of 75 feet unsafe for ,. public travel for the reason said road is a dirt constructed, with a steep bank along the north side of said road and has continuous washouts on said road surface and greatly increased travel over said road and to avoid serious accidents or liability on the part of said Town, said Town Board deem it necessary that extra ordinary repairs be made to said road by rebuilding grading, resurfacein and draining same for a distance of 75 feet. Resolved that pursuant to the provision s of the statute there be and hereby is appropriated and made available for said purpose the sum of $1715 and it is further, Resolved that the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to borrow .on the faith and credit of said Town the sum of $175 from the Glens Falls national Bank and Trust Company and to execute a certificate of indebtedness for said sum payable March lst- ,, 1942 with interest at the rate of 3,0. per annum. Further Resolved that the above resolution as to form and. legallity shall be subject to the approval of the County Attorney before it takes effect. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. been, Mr, Nobles, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Bentley and Mr. Ingalsbe Noes - None On motion meeting adjourned.
