1934-05-22 Regular Meeting May 22nd 1934 At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Tc", of lueensbury held on the above date at the Clerk' s office , the following menbers were present. Jerry B. Mead Supervisor Floyd Ellsworth Justice of Peace Charles Nobles to It Henry Stevenson to it Meredith Bentley Bert D. Turner Town Clerk Beecher Clother County Attorney also present. Minutes of meetings held on April 24th. April 25th and May I+Sth 1934 rea(l and approved, Resolution # 36 Introduced by Justice Ellsworth seconded by Justice Bentley Whereas, by a decision of the court of appeals reported in 252 N.Y. page 5289 under section 74 of the Highway law the town is liable for injuries resulting to a traveler mpon the highway by reason of striking a wire extending across the highway which caused injuries i in RESOLVED, that the Town Supef'tendant of Highways of the Tpwn of Queensbury be and hereby is Directed to inspect all Town highways in said Town and cause the owner of all wites across any Town Town Highway. in said Town to be raised to at least sixteen feet above the traveled portion of said highway Ayes: Mr Mead, Mr Ellsworth, Mr Nobles Mr Bentley and MrStevenson Noes-None Mr. Jackson presented an additional petitions containing 50 signers ,w in the matter of the assembly point road and spoke in favor of the laying out the said road fletition was received and filed. No action taken by the board. In the matter of the proposed water district an unofficial opinion of the attorney general of the state of New york was red to the Board and filed. The Board generally dicussed the proposdd water district and the following resolution was introduced Resolution #37 Introduced by Justice Nobles , seconded by Justice e; .1 Ellswxorth It was resolved that the Town Board will accept the proposed contract with the City of Glens Falls for the sale of water to the proposed North Glens Falls Water District on Miller Hill provided that the said water district is established, Roll Call Ayes- Mr.Ellsworth and Mr Nobles. Noes- Mr Yead , Mr. Bentley and Mr Stevenson. A letter from the Austin W. Holden Camp No. $6 Sons of UnionsVeterans of the Civil war requesting the appropiation of the sum of not to e c eEd. Ten Dollars for the purpose of decorating the graves of civil War veterans buried in the Town of Queensbury, was read to the board. Resolution No 38 Introduced by Justice Nobles, seconded by Fus,t ice Bentley It is resolved that the .Austin W. Holcf6n Camp #56 bead hereby is authorized to purchase flags for ' tne decoration of Veterans graves in the Town of Queensbury *t a cost not to red Ten Dollars. Resolution Igo. 39 Introduced by Justice Stevenson seconded by Justice Bentley; In Was resolved that Mohican Grange # 1300 be and is hereby authorized to remove grass , .weeds brush and care for and conserve that Jenkins cemetery near. Bradford Thorntons farm, Futher resolved that necessary repairs be made to the Stone wall arround thes,aid cemetery by the said Mohican grange,' Further resolved that the sum of$100. be and hereby is appropiated fcpr said cemetery. Futher resolved that the brush weeds and Grass be removed at least three times a year by the said Mohican Grange, Further resolved that the work be completed by Oct. 1st 1934. Resolution #40 Introduced by Justice Ellsworth , seconded by Justice Nobles; It was resolved that the Glens Falls Grange be and is hereby authorized to remove grass, weeds, brush and care for and conserve the Lake Sunnyside cemetery, Futlhher resolved that the brush, weeds and grass be removed at least three times a year by the said Glens Falls Grange. `— Further resolved that the sum of $50. be and hereby is appropiated for said cemetery. RESOLUTION #41 Jntroduced by Justice Stevenson , seconded by Justice Bentley. It was resolved that the John J. Harris Memmorial Chapel be and As hereby authorized to remove grass, weeds . brush and care for and conserve the John J Harris cemetery on ridge road, Further resolved that the brush weeds and grass be removed at least three times a year by the John J. Harris MemmorialCHapel Further resolved that the sum of $50. be andhereby is appropiated for the said eemetery; Further Resolved that the work be completed by Oct. lst, 1934. In the matter' of the care of the traffic light at monty'y bridge , the following resolution was adopted. Resolution A 42 Introduced by Justice Ellsworth, seconded by Justice, Nobles It was resolved that Harold Dean be and is hereby authorized to keep in and working order the Traffic light at T+.1'onty' s Bridge on the Boulavard road as the said repairs are needed Roll Call Ayes Yr. The letter advised the Board that the actions had been appealed by the plaintiffs A letter from the Glens Falls Brick &,, Lumber Company relative to company' s claim against the town for 51, 000 for land takened by the Town for the extension of Lafayette Ave was read to the Board. the town board Meeting adjourned to the 23rd day Aiay1934 at 7MT. and went insession As Town Board offhealth and the following resolution was adopted. Resolution #1 Introduced by Justice Stevenson seconded by Justice Bentley It was resolvedthat Harry Smith be and hereby is appointed sanitary inspector for the Town of Zueensbury for a, term xammmAaramg of one year commencin on the 2nd Day of April 1934 and ending on the 2nd day of april., 19, 5, to serve without compensation from the town of Jueensbury.
