091.2004 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT TO TOWN OF QUEENSBURY EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK §701 ENTITLED “HEALTH INSURANCE – RETIRED EMPLOYEES” RESOLUTION NO.: 91, 2004 INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Tim Brewer WHO MOVED ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: Mr. Theodore Turner WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to amend its Employee Handbook §701 “Health Insurance – Retired Employees” to amend the amount that retirees’ widowed spouses pay for monthly health insurance premiums, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby authorizes the amendment of Employee Handbook §701 entitled “Health Insurance – Retired Employees” to read as follows: “Health Insurance – Retired Employees Full-time employees who retire from the Town of Queensbury may be eligible to receive a health insurance benefit for themselves and their spouses. To be eligible for such coverage, the retiring employee must be age fifty-five (55) or older, eligible to receive a pension from the New York Employees Retirement System (NYS ERS) and have at least ten (10) years of service with the Town. Such health insurance will continue until the death of such retired employee as long as the retiree makes all required contributions. Upon the death of such retiree, the Town shall provide health insurance coverage for the retiree’s spouse for an additional six (6) months on the same cost sharing terms as before the retiree’s death. Thereafter the retiree’s spouse may continue health insurance coverage pursuant to the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA) or may retain coverage by 50% of the for those spouse’s whose paying the Town full monthly health insurance premium husbands/wives had at least 20 years of service or 100% of the full monthly health insurance premium for less than 20 years of service. Eligible retirees who choose health insurance offered by the Town contribute a portion of the total premium, depending on the plan selected. The percentage or dollar amount of the employees’ share is determined from time to time by the Town Board.” and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor and/or Budget Officer to take all action necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution and the Town Supervisor’s Office to distribute copies of this Resolution to all Town employees and amend the Employee Handbook accordingly. th Duly adopted this 26 day of January, 2004 by the following vote: AYES : Mr. Brewer, Mr. Stec, Mr. Boor, Mr. Turner, Mr. Strough NOES : None ABSENT: None
