417.2000 RESOLUTION APPROVING ESTABLISHMENT OF INDIVIDUALIZED RESIDENTIAL ALTERNATIVE FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED PERSONS AT REGENCY PARK APARTMENTS, MEADOWBROOK ROAD, QUEENSBURY RESOLUTION NO.: 417. 2000 INTRODUCED BY: Mr. James Martin WHO MOVED ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: Mr. Tim Brewer WHEREAS, in accordance with New York State Mental Hygiene Law §41.34(c)(1), Community Workshop, Inc. (CWI) has notified the Town of Queensbury that it wishes to lease property at Regency Park Apartments North, Building #11, Apartment 102, Meadowbrook Road, Queensbury to establish an Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) to serve three developmentally disabled persons, and WHEREAS, in accordance with NYS Mental Hygiene Law §41.34(c)(1), the Town has forty days after receipt of notification to respond to CWI’s request, and WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to work together with CWI to create residential opportunities to allow people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to reside in normal community settings, close to their families and friends, while allowing normal, life-enriching experiences, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby approves the request of Community Workshop, Inc. to establish an Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) at Regency Park North, Building #11, Apartment 102 on Meadowbrook Road, Queensbury, such IRA to be a community- based, 24-hour on-site supervised program to be staffed by trained counselors providing habilitation services and supervision to three developmentally disabled residents, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Community Workshop, Inc. and take such other and further action as may be necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. th Duly adopted this 16 day of October, 2000, by the following vote: AYES : Mr. Martin, Mr. Turner, Mr. Stec, Mr. Brewer, Mr. Brower NOES : None ABSENT: None
