I looked at the all the supporting elements of the`foundation"and ld floor using the following loads: - the floor load used was 40 psf live load plus 10 psf dead load - the roof load was calculated per ASCE-7 60 psf snow load(based on 85 psf ground snow load) and 12 psf dead load This means that there are four(4)supporting beams in your foundation(see Figure I): - the center beam presently(2)2x12 and misses the center two sonotubes - the end beam presently(2)2x12 - and the two side beams(that support the roof)which are presently(1)2x10 My calculations showed that the beams need to be changed as follows to adequately carry the Code required design loads: - the center beam needs to be changed to a(3)2x12—adding the one(1)extra 2x12 should be easy here - the end beam is adequate and can remain a(2)2x12 - the side beams which will be carrying the roof snow load(and since we discussed that the roof pitch will be 3 or 4/12)will have to be changed to(2) 1%x 11 ''/"microllams—these can be added inside the existing 2x10 floor joist—these can be notched per Detail B(attached). Once the proper beams had been sized I turned my attention to a"simple"fix for the center beam missing the two internal sonotubes.The fix we discussed—running a new beam from sonotube to sonotube does not work because your floor joists"break"over the existing beam,and do not extend to where the sonotubes are.Therefore,the recommended fix is to install a(4)2x10 or(2) 1 %x 9'/"microllam beam as shown in Figure II and cantilevering the end of the new beam to hold up the(3)2x12 center beam by securing them together with 3x3x 3/16"steel angles as shown in Detail A.
