392.99 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CREATION OF PUBLIC ACCESS TO COOPER’S CAVE AS PART OF ROUTE 9 (GLENS FALLS TO SOUTH GLENS FALLS) HUDSON RIVER BRIDGE PROJECT RESOLUTION NO.: 392.99 INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Theodore Turner WHO MOVED ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: Mr. Richard Merrill WHEREAS, the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) is in the process of constructing a new bridge across the Hudson River as part of the Route 9 (Glens Falls to South Glens Falls) Hudson River Bridge Project, and WHEREAS, the City of Glens Falls, Town of Moreau and Village of South Glens Falls have requested that DOT incorporate public access to Cooper’s Cave as part of the bridge construction project, and WHEREAS, the City of Glens Falls has requested a letter supporting this concept from the Queensbury Town Board, and WHEREAS, the Town Board supports the creation of public access to Cooper’s Cave as this access would serve as a tourism attraction, educational resource and benefit to residents in the Town of Queensbury and surrounding area, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury hereby expresses its support for the New York State Department of Transportation working with local communities in creating public access to Cooper’s Cave as part of the Route 9 (Glens Falls to South Glens Falls) Hudson River Bridge Project, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor’s Office to forward a certified copy of this Resolution with a letter expressing support of this project to the New York State Department of Transportation, City of Glens Falls, Village of South Glens Falls and Town of Moreau. th Duly adopted this 15 day of November, 1999, by the following vote: AYES : Mr. Irish, Mr. Tucker, Mr. Merrill, Mr. Turner, Mr. Champagne NOES : None ABSENT: None
