Stormwater Plan Stormwater Plan The construction stormwater plan and erosion and sediment control plan follow NYS best practices for residential construction as outlined in New York State Standards and Specifications for Erosion and Sediment Control, Appendix D, and Queensbury Environmental and Performance Standards. Measures to be implemented during construction will include minimizing area of impact, soil containment and stormwater containment measures. It should be noted that there will be no site excavation or clearing as part of this project, and the proposed deck and construction limits will remain within the existing site footprint. Current best practices will be utilized during construction to reduce site impacts and reduce surface stormwater runoff from the project site. These measures include, but are not limited to: • Silt fence installed around site perimeter, including coir logs placed along the southern (lakeward) construction boundary • Only foot access to/from site utilizing existing wooden and stone stairs and paved trails • Negligible surface soil disturbance le. no planned excavation or grading • Roof rainwater catchment directed away from construction site utilizing existing gutters and downspouts • Existing vegetation will remain in place and protected throughout construction Proposed conditions will retain existing stormwater infrastructure onsite, and reduce exposed soils on site under current conditions. A drainage rock pad will be constructed at ground level beneath the proposed deck footprint to reduce surface runoff and improve infiltration. The plan includes a level 6-8" layer of drainage gravel to be placed within the existing (and proposed) deck footprint. Wooden framing and landscape fabric will be installed to contain this gravel pad. The intent of this design is to reduce the exposed soil footprint within the property and minimize runoff and sediment transport. Given the area under the proposed (and existing) deck does not receive sufficient sunlight to successfully install vegetation for erosion control and stormwater protection, porous gravel media is a preferred alternative and a significant improvement from the exposed soils under existing conditions.
