I have reviewed the plans you provided and herewith are
my comments applicable to fire/life safety:
1 . Barnes - Paint booth construction must comply with
requirements of National Fire Protection Association Standard
33 "Spray Application Using Flammable and Combustible
Materials" .
2 . Cumberland Farms , Quaker Rd. - The new canopy must
not interfere with existing fire suppression system. If a
new fire system is to be part of the canopy, it must be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer' s listing and
only after engineered drawings are presented to my office for
review.
3 . Cumberland Farms, Lake George Rd. - There is
presently no fire suppression system at this gasoline
station. It is my understanding (from Planning) that a
system will be part of the new canopy construction. If so,
it must be installed as stated in number 2 above.
If no fire system is planned, one may be required by
the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code .
Please advise the applicant to contact my office for details .
4. Bay Meadows Housing Development - No apparent
concerns . Hydrants are adequately spaced (you might advise
the applicant to be sure hydrants with "national standard
threads" are installed) and turning radii accommodate our
fire apparatus .
