The design plans, prepared by this office and reviewed and approved by the Town as associated with the wastewater system application, are as follows: Proposed Replacement Wastewater System for the Graziano Residence • Sheet 1 Cover Sheet • Sheet 2 Existing Conditions • Sheet 3 Wastewater Variance Plan • Sheet 4 Wastewater Details • Sheet 5 Enhanced Treatment Unit Details During the course of construction I was onsite observing the installation of all major components of the system. It is noted and represented by the attached "As-Built" plan that a change was made to .the system prior to construction. The original plan called for a Clarus Fusion 450 ETU but at the Owner's request the ETU was changed to a PuraSys Sequential Batch Reactor(SBR). The SBR system configuration includes a change to a septic tank(1250 gal.)and reactor tank(1000 gal.)with the SBR mechanicals located in the reactor tank. The location of the tanks are as shown on the attached 'As-Built sketch'. Also submitted is some product description literature for the SBR system. The enhanced treatment mechanisms(PuraSys Sequential Batch Reactor)were previously installed and programmed and then tested for operation on November 19th. It is my opinion that the wastewater system has been installed in compliance with the approved plans (and subsequent revisions)and is ready for operation. Since the process is batched, the smart control can recognize waterflow and then adjust aeration accordingly. This not only saves energy, but also improves treatment efficiency and avoids bulking. i i Why Choose PuraSys SBR? 1 o Certified to NSF/ANSI Standards 40 and 245 Applications o Can be dropped into a standard septic tank Residential new construction i o Simple system uses no chemical additives, filters or fixed media o PuraSys SBR can be installed through a standard 24"or 30"tank access port Retrofit existing septic tanks o Smart control panel which automatically adjusts aeration to water flow based i Commercial or community on occupancy o Process control saves energy and prevents sludge bulking caused by :Small commercial operations'. over-aeration r Nitrogen sensitive areas . o Only input is air which makes operation and maintenance easy Very small-properties f 1 - Locally supplied tank option t Mike Series 4 I IM Series 1 f i i i Only modules bearing the NSF®logo OANUA ®and designated PS1-XX are certified ; to NSF/ANSI Standards 40 and 245 o :a o • • • • OS' -rnation • Engineering - chnical Specifications PdraSys Sequencing Batch Reactor _ I The SBR Process The SBR is a batch process, allowing the controller to fill the reactor and adjust aeration to each batch.Since treatment occurs this way, nitrification and denitrifi- jcation can occur in the same chamber. 7 i Adjusting aeration is important in small treatment plants because flows vary ` widely and often.Too much air can lead to system failure through sludge bulking. The PuraSys SBR automatically recognizes when water is being used and adjusts aeration to maintain a healthy environment for the proper bacteria to thrive. Models The PuraSys SBR uses a step-fill sequencing batch reactor process, meaning that it fills the reactor several times during each cycle. At the beginning of each step, PSI-4 through PSI-8(__<800 gpd) - water is brought from the pretreatment to the reactor. It is then aerated for 1 Novair 200 aerator,'2-pumps with nitrification to occur.Water is then brought again from the pretreatment to the mounting hardware, float switches, " and smart control panel with NEMA reactor, bringing with it an anoxic carbon source, ideal for denitrification. In this 4X rated enclosure' way,the step-fill SBR can attain high levels of nitrogen reduction without an external carbon source. The system's alarm will provide notification of any equipment failure in order to keep bacteria alive. Design vs Actual Flow:Two Settings Design flow and actual flow often differ,a problem that can lead to system failure. The PuraSys SBR addresses this by allowing service providers to change two settings in the smart control panel:aeration and sludge return times.Aeration can be increased or decreased as the influent loading Characteristics change.Sludge age and blanket can be increased or decreased = through the sludge return timer settings.
