Project Description
Queensbury Masonic Historical Society has submitted a petition for zone change to the Queensbury Town
Board to allow for the addition Day-Care Center as allowed by Site Plan Review. The Queensbury Town Board
has forward the petition for Zoning Change to the Queensbury Planning Board for review, report and
recommendation. Pursuant to Chapter 179-15-040 of the Zoning Ordinance, the Town Board may refer any
proposed amendment to the Planning Board for recommendation. The Planning Board shall provide a
recommendation to the Town Board
Staff Comments
The applicant requests a zoning code change to the use Residential Use table to add Day Care Center to the
Neighborhood Residential zone.
NR Zoning Code Section 179-3-040 excerpt
Neighborhood residential. The Neighborhood Residential (NR)District encompasses areas of older, more
traditional, high-density neighborhoods. Areas subject to intense development pressure, located near service
areas, are similarly zoned. This district is intended to protect and enhance traditional, high-density
neighborhood character while providing the opportunity for infill and high-density housing. This area of the
Town is described in the "Neighborhoods" section of the Comprehensive Plan, adopted on August 6, 2007.

Definition: DAY-CARE CENTER
A use where professional child day-care services are offered for six or more children depending on age, for
more than three hours a day but fewer than 24 hours a day,that is operated as a principal or accessory use by an
individual, organization or agency as licensed or regulated by the applicable New York State agencies.
