Detailed Description of Project:
Building is owned by Queensbury Masonic Historical Society.
Newmeadow Saratoga School plans to operate a 12-month preschool program for
children 3 to 5 years of age with special needs including autism spectrum disorder.
Students receive services as mandated by their school district including special education;
speech, occupational and physical therapies; social work; and psychological services.
Integrated classrooms also include nondisabled preschool children from the community
enrolled by parents for an educational preschool experience. Students attend Monday—
Friday, 9:00-1:00.

2008-2009 Fact Sheet
1. A New York State approved not-for-profit school for preschool children with
disabilities established in 1982.
2. Main campus located at 100 Saratoga Village Blvd, Suite 35, Malta NY 12020
3. Disabilities include Autism, Pervasive Development Disorder, Asperger Syndrome,
Down's syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD), and general developmental delays in social skills and cognitive skills.
4. In addition to students with disabilities,Newmeadow Saratoga School has
established a model program to provide instruction for non-disabled students in an
integrated setting with the support of qualified nursery school teachers,therapists and
highly trained teacher assistants.
5. Our teaching and student support faculty is composed of certified and experienced
master degree level special education teachers, qualified nursery school teachers,
licensed speech,physical and occupational therapists, behavioral therapists, a
psychologist, a social worker and other support staff.
6. At the Malta site there are currently 150 students enrolled -120 with special needs
(about 50% diagnosed with autism) and 30 preschool nursery students.
7. The Queensbury site will house up to three classrooms and provide adequate space
for the provision of speech, physical and occupational therapy.
8. Both locations feature "Bridges",Newmeadow's signature program which provides
an applied behavioral analysis approach to instruction.
9. Transportation is State and county funded (currently 15 buses)with the exception of
nursery school; 40 families transport their children every day to the Malta location.
10. Currently serves 15 school districts in 5 counties; majority of children from Saratoga
County. At age 5, students become the responsibility of public school districts.
