Narrative373 Big Boom Rd.
Detailed description of Project:
This property is currently vacant however I have started clearing. I have roughed in the
approved driveway and started clearing the approved homesite. I also roughed in this proposed
path before I realized that I wasn’t supposed to. In roughing in the proposed path, I plotted a
winding path between my property lines and chose the path which would allow me to cross the
least amount of wetlands and would also allow me to cut the least amount of trees. I do not
wish to change the character of the property.
I would like to install a lightly graveled path starting at 160' behind the homesite to a location
125' from the river shore. The proposed path would be approx. 7.5' x 650' long and will wind
slightly through the woods to avoid any large trees. The path will contain (3)-15" diameter
culverts in swales that are currently on the land. The purpose of the path would be to get direct
and private access to the shore which is usable by a golf cart or like vehicle. There is currently
a shared easement in place which provides a trail (almost twice the distance of the proposed
path) through seasonally wet area and tracks directly behind three homesites. This shared path
contains multiple “bridges” made from railroad ties to traverse the seasonal wetness. This path
would not be suitable for a wheeled vehicle.
I would also like to excavate a 6’ wide x 18’ long slope at the shore to gain access. At the shore
is an approximately 16’ dropoff. The bank underneath the dropoff has been undermined by high
water that has occurred in the last couple of years. In order to gain safe access to the shore
and to help shore up the river bank, I believe excavating is necessary.
