Post Star, WWSC GUESTS: Mr. Dick Morse- Morse Engineering TOWN OFFICIALS: Mr. Harold Hansen, Members of the Queensbury Recreation Commission PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCED LED BY DONALD A. CHASE, TOWN CLERK SUPERVISOR WALTER-The pupose of tonights meeting is the possible awarding of the bids for the Gurney Lane Park Project...the bids were opened last Monday and presented to the Town Board on September 12, 1985, the Board has now had ample time to review the bids and we hope to take action on them tonight. I would now like to introduce Mr. Dick Morse of Morse Engineering for his recommendation on the bids. MR. DICK MORSE-There are four contracts involved in the Gurney Lane Park Project... General Construction, Ventilation, Plumbing and Electrical, the following are the low and recommended bids to be accepted... GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: Fisk Construction Co. in the amount of $568,000.00 VENTILATION: Dwyers Plumbing in the amount of $3,950.00 PLUMBING: Dwyers Plumbing in the amount of $19,980.00 I ELECTRICAL: Russell Brown Electrical in the amount of $26,900.00 All bidders were required to have a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid. MR. DICK MORSE-In order to evaluate the two lowest bidders under the General Contract Fisk Construction and Adirondack Construction were requested to file a certificate of experience, listing previous construction contracts and also financial data on the companies..both companies responded in the form and formate as provided. COUNCILMAN MORRELL-The bids were lower than last time? MR. MORSE-Yes SUPERVISOR WALTER-Noted that some of the savings were realized through the work done by the Highway Dept at the site...if awarded tonight the savings from the last bid would be approximately $100,000.00 COUNCILMAN OLSON-Will the work start this fall...is there a construction schedule... MR. MORSE-There is a construction schedule and a penalty if not done in the require time frame....construction should start ten days after the signing of the contra,'t. COUNCILMAN MONAHAN-The contractors will supply preformance bonds and proof of insurance approved by Town Counsel before the contracts are signed... RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT BIDS RESOLUTION NO. 216, Introduced by Mr. Daniel Morrell who moved for its adoption, seconded by Mr. Daniel Olson: 231 WHEREAS, the Town Board wished to go out to bid on the General Construction, Ventilation, Plumbing and Electrical for the Gurney Lane Park Project, and WHEREAS, Eight bids were submitted and received and opened at the specified time and place by the Director of Purchasing/Town Clerk Donald A. Chase and such bids were then turned over to Morse Engineering for their recommendation, and WHEREAS, Mr. Morse has recommended that the low bidders in each instance be accepted as follows: General Construction: Fisk Construction $568,000.00, Ventilation: Dwyers Plumbing $3,950.00, Plumbing: Dwyers Plumbing $19,980.00 and Electrical: Russell Brown Electrical $26,900.00 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury hereby accepts the recommendation of Morse Engineering as stated above, and be it further RESOLVED, that the financing for such construction is in the Town Budget. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Mr. Olson, Dr. Eisenhart, Mr. Morrell, Mrs. Monahan (Electrical only) Mrs. Walter Noes: None Absent:None Abstain:Mr. Monahan on General Construction, Plumbing, and Ventilation COUNCILMAN EISEN HA RT-Questioned Mrs. Walter on the amount of funds now available? SUPERVISOR WALTER-The Gurney Lane Park Project monies have been set aside and are in the budget... Thanked Mr. Hansen and the Recreation Commission for attending the meeting tonight...
