The Code does require that any dust produced by any manufacturing system be collected in an appropriate dust collection system so that the dust is not suspended in the atmosphere of the space. It is my recollection that you stated you are going to provide an individual dust collection systems for each machine that produces any type of dust or shavings at that machine. 2. Emergency lights would be required throughout the space adequate to light up the aisle ways and areas to the aisle ways to provide safe evacuation for your employees. 3. The two exterior exits would have to be upgraded so that they can be easily accessed to grade and legal open space.. It appears that the south exit MU just need to be updated with a new man door and canopy. The east exit would have to be upgraded to include an enlargement to accommodate a man door and a headroom clearance of six foot, eight inches, and a canopy. 4. As you and I discussed, while the Code is not specific,we request that you stripe an aisle between the exit doors at least 44 inches in width that would identify this exit path to the exterior of the building,so that employees will not park or leave items in the exit path. 5. The last item that we discussed is due to the type of manufacturing that you are proposing for this space, wed need a letter from your sprinkler contractor stating that the sprinkler system currently installed meets or exceeds the requirements for the manufacturer of plastics and other manufacturing processes you propose for this basement area. If not, the sprinkler system would have to be upgraded as necessary for the materials and processes being used. According to the drawing provided, these seem to be the issues that must be addressed so a building permit can be issued by this office for the occupancy of the basement as manufacturing space. If any of the items change,or you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
