Staff Notes_07 17 12 Department of Community Development Queensbury Planning Board Staff Notes July 17, 2012 APPLICATION: Site Plan 37-2012 APPLICANT: Orvis Inc. REQUESTED ACTION: Tent sales in excess of the 2 that have been issued administratively per calendar year require Planning Board review and approval LOCATION: 1457 State Route 9 EXISTING ZONING: CI-Commercial Intensive SEQRA STATUS: Type II PARCEL HISTORY: SP 23-87 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Applicant proposes three (3) separate tent sale events; please see applicant’s narrative for dates. Sale to be located at the southwest corner of the parcel and includes a 30ft. by 40 ft. tent in the existing parking lot. Applicant has requested waivers from lighting, landscaping, grading, and stormwater requirements of Site Plan Review. Review: Page S-1 1.Care should be taken to promote pedestrian safety as the site is open to thru vehicular traffic east of the tent event. Cordoning off of display area should be considered as well as safety signage. Staff comments: The following should be listed as a condition of approval: 1.The tent to be installed from August 9 through August 12, 2012, August 30 through September 2, 2012 and October 4 through October 8 for a total of 13 days. 2.Town of Queensbury Fire Marshal’s office to be contacted by applicant for inspection prior to sale. 3.The following waivers to be granted: Grading, Lighting, Stormwater Management, Landscaping. 4.The Planning Board may wish to consider a two year approval with conditions as follows:  Fire Marshal office to be contacted two weeks prior to start of sale.  Dates of sale to be consistent with previous approvals.
