1984-10-02 SP 252 SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING OCTOBER 2, 1984 TOWN BOARD MEMBERS Mrs. Frances Walter-Supervisor Mr. Daniel Olson-Councilman Dr. Charles Eisenhart-Councilman Mr. Daniel Morrell-Councilman Mrs. Betty Monahan-Councilman Mr. Wilson Mathias-Town Counsel PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE LED BY TOWN CLERK DONALD A. CHASE PRESS: G.F. Post Star, WBZA GUESTS: Mr. Michael Woodbury, Mr. John Richards TOWN OFFICIALS: Mr. Paul Naylor MEETING OPENED 4:07 P.M. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Town Clerk-Donald A. Chase, presented the Town Board with, a copy of the Supervisor's Tentative Budget for the year 1985... Supervisor Walter-We will now begin a series of budget workshops in order to come up with a preliminary budget and then the final adopted budget. As the Budget Officer for the budget of 1985, the budget is up in the expenditure category, the revenues are also up. With the budget that the Town Board has before them, I would say that there would be no tax increase in the general fund. I can see a tax decrease depending on how much you people wish to add to this budget. There is an increase in one of the special districts, fire protection, this is 5 or 6% increase over last year. We have signed contracts, we are purchasing a new fire truck for South Queensbury which is the reason for the increase in that special district. Basically, the water districts have stayed about the same. There are really no surprises in the budget, it is extremely realistic, I hope that not too many changes will be made. Our largest increase in spending is in the area of highway. I can foresee that as this town grows, that this is an area that we will be constantly looking at increases because we are a growing community. It is costing more to operate our cemeteries. One of the biggest increases in the general budget is in the tax assessment office. We are gearing up to do a total town re-evaluation. It will be more costly than what shows for 1985, but it will be less expensive because we chose to do it in house rather than contract out. We are adding to our personnel on a temporary basis and the expenses incurred with their job, additional equipment and mileage. We will schedule the budget meetings within the next week or so... Councilman Olson- Mr. Morrell and myself will be meeting with the Highway Superintendent to go over his budget next week...
