Re: Randles – 42 Old Assembly Point Rd.
Dear Laura:
In response to the Town’s requirements for a certification letter for the wastewater system serving a
property which is subject to a Site Plan Review application for proposed improvements to the
residence I offer the following.
In November of 2016 EDP prepared a design plan for a replacement wastewater system to serve the
Randles property based on the existing site conditions. The plans included an existing condition
plan as well as the proposed replacement system design and details. At the request of the Owner,
the wastewater design was based on a six-bedroom flowrate as they anticipated a future project
which would enlarge the size of the residence and thus the necessary capacity of the wastewater
system. System components consist of a concrete septic tank (2000 gallons), a 1000-gallon
concrete pump tank with a duplex pump/control system and an Eljen GSF absorption field in a
trench configuration (3 laterals of 44 lf each – 132 LF total). All components were designed and
installed in compliance with the required sizing for a six-bedroom flowrate (660 gpd). Following
installation of the system in the Fall of 2017 a compliance letter was prepared and submitted to the
Town by EDP. The system was approved for operation at that time of the start-up in November 2017
The Owner is now proceeding with the house expansion and as such requires a statement indicating
that the existing system is adequate for the proposed house expansion. As originally designed and
installed, the wastewater system in-place is adequately sized for a residence of up to six bedrooms.
It is my understanding that the proposed residence will not be increasing the bedroom count above
the existing 4-bedroom residence. Thus, the existing bedroom count and proposed bedroom count
will remain at 4 bedrooms, and the system as originally designed will be adequately sized to serve
the expanded residence.
Please advise should further information be required.
Sincerely,
Dennis MacElroy
